thank you all very much for helping out a noob, Im gonna ask if they have a scrap one laying around for me to play with, they quite likely do
once again
thanks much
shat, this is quickly becoming a no quote. Even with a .05 axial and .015 stepover, you still think it will suck that bad? Thanks by the way for the help
So I have a job possibly that would require me to machine off around .08 in hastelloy, with a ball endmill. The surface that needs to be cut is about 8" x 20" or so. I was going to throw 1/2 ball endmills at this but was wondering if going around 160 sfm, and .002 per tooth would be a good place to start this quote from. I dont know how much benifit I will get from the chip thinning so I am scratching my head as to get a baseline on this. Also, from you guys that have worked with this stuff, what kind of tool life should i expect out of a varimill type tool?
Thanks much
Need to quote some milling of this stuff, never heard of it before, and good ole google tells me its nickel based superalloy, so any of yall cut this fun stuff?
Thanks
In X3, I had the center wheel left lean set to dynmic view, no when I just installed X5 it will no longer do that, and I was very fond of it. Anyone else using one of these mice, did you find a way to fix it ?
thanks
The control def, I had it halfway there, but apparently wasnt smart enough to get it all the way. I misunderstood what it was asking when it says arcs in all axis, I though it would make my poor haas think it was a horizontal Thanks again
I have been running X3 for some time now with a post that i have no complaints about untill now. I need to output arcs with z moves at the same time, hope I said that right..... all the switches ive played with in the machine def, have so far made no difference. When trying to do a helix, I get point to point no matter what i mess with, and would like to try arcs to see if it will run faster, as one of my machines has no look ahead. Any tips very much appreaciated. Thanks gents
For what you just stated, I would have to vote roll tap all day long, it will be faster and cheaper than threadmilling, but if you don't feel like trying form taps, I've had great luck with osg hypro taps spiral flute, you can run them just as fast as a form tap in that aplication hth
In this case it wasnt zipped, but I will remember that for the future. I will look into the chaining tolerances gcode, but it seems to be more of a solids problem. Once I opened the file here at work, there were some solids left in the file, but others were gone or corrupt. All of my op groups were there as I had named them, but all toolpaths in them were gone. Its a weird one for sure. Thanks for the help so far keep em coming guys
I am having some issues that are new to me regarding Mastercam. I bought a new laptop and us it at home, it has vista 32 bit on it. I have another box that I use at work, and it has XP pro on it. I have trouble opening parasolids at home for some reason, so I thought I would just take some native mastercam files home to work on. When I work on them at home and email them back to work, they wont open properly. There is a laundry list of errors it gives, but most are parasolid errors, and one that says there is a missing op file. Anyone ever see anything like this, I have a feeling it might be a bad install on the laptop, but am not sure. Thanks in advance
Is there going to be an update for Mpmaster for X3? I have been getting by with an old updated post but would like to switch to mpmaster becuase the output is cleaner, and more logical. Thanks
I need to find a supplier for either or these flavors of SS, but the catch is they have to be forged. We have searched high and low, and can only find places willing to do what we need if we order 10 tons at a time. Thanks in advance
Pure genius Chris, worked perfectly. I never would have thought of that. I owe you big time, if you ever make it to Oregon, steak dinner on me. BTW, more boobie bars in portland per capita than anywhere else in the country. Thanks again
Thanks John, but this system, and machine have been running fine for over a year, so I am inclined to think the problem is elsewhere, guess I should have mentioned that in my original. Any others?
I have a 06 VF3, and I am getting a low air pressure alarm. There is plenty of air getting to the machine, and am thinking that it might be a switch gone out. Anyone have any experience with these in the past? Thanks
I am going to be trying to setup my seat at home tonight, and was wondering what files need to be copied to my home pc, so my defaults are the same. Thanks in advance
Sorry im late getting back.... Anyway Billystein It has been my experience that when looking at smaller machines around 40 x 20 the nexus line will smack the living crap out of haas and fadal all day long, and their price point is roughly 10% higher. That is where I see the real value, i would rather spend an additional 10k for a mazak compared to a haas. But as a disclaimer you might have to beat up the Mazak salesman to get his price that close to a haas. JMHO
I have used many mazaks and haas' over the years, and the only place where i think there might be a good case for a haas is in the larger machines, VF6 and up. They are still junk, but unbelievable value when you try to compare them against similiar sized new machines. Just my .02
