  1. Oh My mistake we do have two seats of Surfcam and one of Mastercam. I used Surfcam and it does not compare to Mcam in ease of use. You can not even inport solids into Surfcam, only .IGS which is silly to me.
  2. 2D, 3D and soon 5 axis. We make Carbon Fiber compression molds, and machine carbon fiber second ops.
  3. Hey all give me some reasons to convince my boss to get another seat of Mastercam. He uses Surfcam, and The other guy wants to use Mastercam. It is a wash we need a new seat of something! We currently have one each Mastercam and Surfcam. Give me reasons to convince him!
  4. Thanks again guys I will pass this information along. My boss is going the the Chicago show and this should help him focus on a few brands.
  5. Thanks for the information! Keep it comming!
  6. How is the control and customer support? Is a post avalable from MC
  7. Our company machines composites, we are considering buying a 5 axis router. We are considering the type with an articulated head. Question to you guys, who uses a cnc router? what brands do you know of? Onsrudd is one model we have been looking at. Sugestions?
  8. Thanks, I used that book before, any more suggestions? I would like to review several if possible.
  9. Sorry, it will be a beginning class at a community college. I use Mcam every day, understand it and all of its aspects. I have many drawings I want them to draw and program. Since most of the students will have different learning abilities, I want it to be a self paced class, and I will monitor the progress of each student, and help where needed
  10. What training manuals have you used, and did you like them? I am looking for a good manual that is not to expensive, I can not justify forcing my students to spend big bucks. I searched Amazon and the Mcam web site but there are little or no reviews, also some of the books are over $100. Thanks
  11. Flexibility! That is why God gave us Work Coordinate offsets on the machine tools. I suppose he insist on using only High Speed Steel cutter too......
  12. "Shaping the next generation of Machinists and Programmers is a SERIOUS task. One that should not be taken lightly." Very well put and true! Thanks.
  13. I do it all the time. I get metric prints, draw it up in metric then change my config file to inch. Auto converts every thing perfect. Then I put to tool path ect to finish up the job in inch.
  14. Oh yes why does every one use sequence numbers on every line? that gobbels up memory like no tomorrow.
  15. if the programs are sub programs use the M97 command on the Haas. This will eliminate subs altogether. I avoid sub because many of the machinist at this shop forget to back all of them up together. Most CNC machines have enough memory to handle larger programs. the M97 is real simple to fix in the post.
