  1. i posted this in another thread but have a feeling it may get lost so,

i am using the Dynamic OptiRough toolpath and want to inspect / change inserts on a high feed mill. i activate the options but

i do not see an M01 or M00 posted at the set time intervals.

Is this a post mod that's neededd to achieve the above statement? TIA

lights out? high feed? P20? we wouldn't even do that on the big horizontal where gravity takes care of the chips.

i program tool retracts (spindle + cooling off / z axis home / program stop) for insert inspection (tool inspection / change feature on tool param page in Mastercam) for every 30 minutes to deal with chips and check inserts. 1.5 to 2 hour insert life is fairly conservative. 45 minutes to 1.25 hours is fairly aggressive. in my opinion. all night? no freakin' way! ymmv.

resurrecting this topic.  Is a post mod needed to achieve the above statement? TIA

  3. looks like maybe one of your tools has special geometry and it's looking for it in the public\public documents\shared MC2017\mill\tools\ProFab\Associated_DXF

when you migrated you tool database that particular tool may still be looking for its geometry definition. double check all your tools in that file.

  4. looks to be trying to open a dxf file from MC2017. do you have stock file linked in this file. your Operations / Default file may not have migrated correctly.

or a tool that is using a dxf file to describe itself,  still linked to that location.

shux! I may eventually have to move to 2018, it's still in beta I believe. I use x9 and 2017 currently. I really appreciate all the work you have done providing this as a free add on. No chance that will be added to earlier versions huh?

x+ has been around for a long time, what version you looking for?

  6.  or use the HST Finishing toolpaths as they will respect the boundary and not cut outside of the shape.

Ron, i did try the HST toolpath and used spiral, waterline, scallop and contour. the toolpath was just too choppy and would've left a bad surface finish. thank you

though, i always heed your words!!

  7. mastercam 2017, just trying to finish a tapered boss on an od and figured morph between 2 curves would give me a smooth toolpath.

my two curves are in dark blue and the surfaces are tan. i am using 3 axes with all geometry in the top view. my toopaths do not stay between

the curve and am getting frustrated. any help would be appreciated. tia
