  1. I went with the P2000 when I saw the benchmarks from PassMark (https://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html) It was a few points ahead of the M5000 but I don't know if what they test compare to what Mastercam uses.
  2. I just installed a Quadro P2000 and I'm losing the Auto-Highlight in Trim and Fillet. When you say to use the 3D setting for Solidworks are you talking about the Global or Program Settings? I don't see "Solidworks" in the global settings and I did try setting the OpenGL rendering GPU to P2000 for MC 2018 in the Program Settings but it didn't solve the issue.
  3. I asked the same question so I could pull the info for 4th axis work a while back. I was informed that CNC added "MIN-Z-TPLANE & MAX-Z-TPLANE" to 2018 but it doesn't work unless the WCS is also set to the same plane. Its logged as defect D-29801
  4. Does anyone have any experience with Sankyo Rotary Tables? I received a quote on their RCC250 table and another salesman questioned their quality because the price was ridiculous low (about 1/2 the price of his Koma)
  5. I used SQLite and opened "DatabaseCatalog.toolbd" and changed the names for some MFG's we don't use. There was ID and Description fields that I left alone when editing. We haven't had any problems since doing it over a year ago.
  6. We have been using Visual since 98' and its very powerful and easy to use on the manufacturing side. I don't have experience on the accounting side but they say it works well.
  7. Try disabling NVIDIA Optimus. According to HP its enabled by default to save battery power. I disabled it on my old Dell M6600 because I was having graphics issues in MC and that eliminated the problem.
  8. Can you make the files on the network "Always available offline"? I have all the CAD-CAM directories and files synced locally and force a sync a couple times a day to update the files on the server. With the files local you shouldn't experience any lag.
  9. We have thousands of files that we have to change all the tools when we first open them in X9. The non-cutting geometry from X7 doesn't transfer to X9 and we need that info for verifying. It's not too bad when its a graphite part but on our HSM parts its critical. If I think about it I write the parameters down before changing to the new tool but I usually end up re-opening the X7 file to get the original numbers. Its getting to be a real PITA!
  10. I took a part that has about 1800" feed length and ran Verify (FF to end) on both machines with HWMonitor running Laptop 3000M - Time-4:20, CPU-78%, GPU-3% Homebuilt 970 - Time-2:31, CPU-58%, GPU-4% Rotating part after machined is when I see loading of the GPU. 3000M-99% 970-68% Running Verify in play mode uses more GPU time. 3000M-10% average with 24% max 970 - 20% average with 40% max I'm going to assume that the info from the 5930K CPU is offloaded faster to the 970 and that's why you see the higher percentages.
  11. I chose the 970 over getting a K4200 so I could get a better CPU on a new build. Mastercam and Verify runs fine with it and when I'm Verifying CPUID HWMonitor shows the CPU loaded and the GPU hardly running. It may be the GTX drivers but I'm seeing Verify is more CPU than GPU.
  12. We are hard milling parts on our ROKU and the tangs have a .0003 (.00015 P/S) tolerance. We mill down far enough to measure the width then adjust the cutter and regenerate the program if needed. Our mill guy has done very well with knowing how much to "adjust" for flex and spring on the diameter from the laser measurement. It really isn't that hard when you have a tight accurate machine and cutters. The parts are programmed from solids using surface toolpaths so CC is not an option.
  13. You can grab a tool and hold .0001/.0002? We laser all our tools then the operator puts in the diameter and regenerates the program.
  14. Has anyone noticed if you change a bull diameter it automatically changes the radius to 1/4 of the diameter? We had a 6MM x .5MM bull that the operator changed the diameter by .0004 and the corner radius went from .0197 to .059. It seems no mater what diameter you put in it updates the corner radius to 1/4 the diameter entered. It does it on all our PC's. We have to go back to X7 till a fix is issued...too easy to make a mistake.
