The Mastercam X5 Mill Level 3 Training Tutorial gets a total refresh with 7 new projects and 7 accompanying practice exercises that span a wide degree of complexity. It is strongly recommended to have a good understanding of 2D machining (provided in the Mill Level 1 Training Tutorial, for example) before beginning this book. All of the parts are designed with machinability in mind and include suggested fixtures and tool setups. Clearly laid out objectives and dimensioned step previews make it easier than ever to follow along. Over 950 pages of content cover 3D wireframe and surface geometry creation, Surface Finish and Roughing toolpaths. An emphasis is put on the advanced Surface High Speed Toolpaths, including the new X5 High Speed Toolpaths, STL Stock creation and its use in solid model verification. Machine Simulation is also used to check for collisions between the part, the tool and any of the machine’s components. Finally, the General Notes chapter provides useful tools, shortcuts and 3D toolpath parameter descriptions.

  3. Version 1.3

This is an electronic only purchase downloadable in PDF format. The print version is available here. Published by: In-House Solutions Inc. ISBN: 978-1-77146-143-6 This tutorial covers Mastercam’s toolpath functionality in the Mill-Turn add-on. You must have the Mastercam Mill –Turn add-on in order to use this tutorial, it does not work with the Mastercam Home Learning Edition. To apply these toolpaths you need a multi-tasking machine tool, in our case Mazak Integrex 100-IV ST and a customize post processor. This machine configuration features second turning spindle and lower turret. Similar configuration machines such as Doosan Puma MX 2100/2600 ST can be used, keeping in mind that some machine specifics could be different. The tutorials cover turning toolpath and milling toolpaths including multiaxis and specific toolpaths such as pinch turning. The parts are machined in both spindles, stock transfer and part handling routine are also described. Specific functions and options such as Job Setup, Axis combination and tool setup, automatic tool plane creation, synchronization and tokens are also covered. Note: The X8 HLE requires 64bit versions of Windows 7 or newer. More about system requirements can be found here. Note: This book requires Mill-Turn, which is not included with the Home Learning Edition/Demo Software.

The Mastercam X9 Mill Essentials Professional Courseware is ideal for industrial training. Our exercise based approach to both the presentation and teaching of the material provides users with excellent opportunities to apply what they have learned. Users put the concepts they are taught to practice by creating parts based on a series of drawings, using 2D wireframe, solids, and toolpath creation with just a few guidelines. Supplement files and accompanying exercises are provided to reinforce the theory. The material provides outstanding coverage of contour, pocket, drilling, circle milling and slot milling toolpaths. More advanced exercises explain the use of Work Coordinate System (WCS), 2D High Speed toolpaths, Feature Based Machining (FBM) and more.

  15. SO with the previous Mastercams/MC4SW I was able to fudge routing machine definitions for posting by changing the file extensions. This worked quite well.... but now that I have upgraded to 2017MC4SW, and have no issues posting the machines I need. I have an issue now whereas older files cannot post do to having a router definition set, and I have no knowledge on how to remove this definition to replace it with a working one. IS there any way to dump what is set and replace it with the default mill? Selecting the Machine Group Properties>Files>Machine Tool Path does nothing... I can click the "replace" a million times and nothing will happen.

  17. Hi All i'm new to MasterCAM and i created a piece in AutoCAD (a lot of stuffing around), but i brought into MasterCAM and set out all the tool paths and everything, and generated the g code, but... The problem it that i have the Z axis starts at 30mm instead of 0 in the Gcode and this is screwing up my CNC because it isn't built to lift up by 30mm on the Z axis., and the only way i can imagine to make it work is by going through the g code and changing every "30" value to 0 and every "29" Value to -1 and so on, how can i fix thins pre Gcode in MasterCAM. and secondly i am milling tapered holes two main ones of different sizes and one of the holes will not mill all the way through on the simulated mill, which i also don't know how to fix, i am getting a little frustrated, and all the help i can get would be greatly appreciated Regards Symon Ps the file i am using is attached below carby plate 1.mcx-8

  20. For those unaware there has been a NETHook included as part of Mastercam (for quite sometime) that allows batch processing of layered dxf, dwg and mcx files utilizing machining strategies. A machining strategy is a list of level names that are associated (read: mapped) to Mastercam operations. There are two new tutorials that walk you through two examples of using this NETHook, one for Router (kitchen cabinets) and one for Mill (mold bases). Feel free to reply to this thread for any ATP related questions or requests. http://www.mastercam.com/en-us/Support/Tutorials/Mastercam

  22. Just curious as to how others approach doing multiple setups. Lets say, for simplicity sake, you have a 2 operation part on a vertical mill, both setups share some tools. Currently what I do is make a machine group for OP1, and then another machine group for OP2. If you are making one part, then you are done. Lets say you are making 200 parts... I then make another machine group, lets call it ALL OPS. Then comes the tedious task of dragging operations from op1 & op2 to this machine group, keeping tools in sequence, ect. This works OK, till you make need to make a change....then you must remember to make the change in the original operation and in the copied operation. Not terrible on a simple part, but can get cumbersome in a hurry. Is there any way to tie 2 operations together so when you make a change to one it updates the other? I suppose one could use transform for all the operations in the "ALL OPS" group, and not really transform the path, tho that could potentially open a new can of worms... How do some of you do work with this?
