  5. Hello, everyone. In these days, I am learning how to creat a lathe custom tool. But when I get into the Geometry tab, I am confused about geometric tool orientation and tool orientation in turret. I want to know how I can select these two configurations. From the tuorial, these two configuratons are set in same position. I do not know whether I can always do that.

  7. Good Day, I created a part for our lathe complete with a stock flip, after the fact I wanted to change the order of my setups. What is the best way to do this with minimal re-programming? I have my programs in operations groups as follows: Setup-1 Stock Flip Setup -2 I swapped Setup-1 with Setup-2 but the masks are still applied to the Setup-1 programs from the stock flip, I'm sure I could post and everything would be fine but the MC file is kind of messed up. My guess is that I need to delete the stock flip and re-create it put the geometry on a new level and re-select geometry. Anyone else have a better method? TIA, Greg

  11. So my shop has recently bought a Mazak Integrex, so with that we purchased a lathe seat. The post/ machine def/control def are lathe and not mill. The first part I programmed was all mill work, so i was needing the verify to display as a mill stock def and not a round lathe def. I was able to select a model (looks kinda like a boomerang) as the initial stock but when i pulled it up in verify to check for collisions it was not ,it displays my part as round and not what i actually need. What can i do, if anything? Thanks in advance

  13. the pic is from mastercan 2017 lathe finishing parameters using a nurbs spline as geometry. When using mastercam 2018, the Linear Tolerance field window is missing and the spline is interpolated roughly when machined. I solved this particular problem by simplifying the spline to an arc and reposting. But I need to have a better solution going forward. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Chris
  14. So I've just started back into the most recent version of Mastercam after using VISI for a number of years. So here's my current stumbling block it appears that when I post a G-code program that things are working properly. The control see's the program it even shows that the comp is on the correct side (right in this case) and displays a tool path that looks about right. BUT when the tool comes in to make a cut (only a finish pass in this case) the displayed x value is much smaller than the programmed one and indeed it will cut on the small side >.< Anyone have any suggestions? I've tried flipping the comp to the other side going through touch off and tool definition a number of times all with the same results. Here's the code in question: % N100 G96 S400 G99 N110 T03 M6 N120 G42 G0 X.2995 Z.0625 N130 G99 G1 Z-.0375 F.003 N140 X.303 Z-.0385 F.003 N150 G2 X.318 Z-.054 I.0120 K-.0155 F.003 N160 G2 X.31 Z-.066 I.0195 K.0000 F.003 N170 G2 X.3055 Z-.0685 I.0155 K.0120 F.003 N180 G1 X.3065 Z-.0785 F.003 N190 X.307 F.003 N200 G2 X.322 Z-.094 I.0120 K-.0155 F.003 N210 G2 X.314 Z-.106 I.0195 K.0000 F.003 N220 G2 X.3095 Z-.1085 I.0155 K.0120 F.003 N230 G1 X.3105 Z-.1185 F.003 N240 X.311 F.003 N250 G2 X.326 Z-.134 I.0120 K-.0155 F.003 N260 G2 X.318 Z-.146 I.0195 K.0000 F.003 N270 G2 X.3135 Z-.1485 I.0155 K.0120 F.003 N280 G1 X.3155 Z-.169 F.003 N290 X.5155 F.003 N300 G40 N310 M30 %

  18. Looking for some confirmation that my post is correct. Have a DMG MORI NLX2500 Lathe with live tooling. First time I have attempted a program with face milling on the sub spindle and I noticed that for climb milling it is outputting G42 instead of the G41 I expected to see. Spindle is running in reverse as I expected. Is this normal based on how the control calculates cutter comp for the sub spindle? Hopefully somebody has encountered this and can allay my concerns before I run this job.
