  15. So... Why does Opti rough always seem to mess up flat surfaces? Whenever I use it, it leaves 1 stepdown worth of stock on flat faces, totally ignoring the stock defined for floors and walls? What gives? There is no option like "critical depths" or "machine flats". nothing. Other than "get better software", are there any options to solve this basic, basic, function? J

  17. eMastercam.com would like to congratulate Mastercam on their 35th Anniversary! The year 2018 marks the 35th anniversary of CNC Software, Inc., developers of Mastercam CAD/CAM software. In 1983, two brothers, Mark and Jack Summers, came up with a new concept for programming CNC (Computer-Numerical-Control) machine tools. A third brother, Brian Summers, soon joined and together they developed a PC-based CAD/CAM software package that laid the foundation for what would be Mastercam, the world’s most widely used CAD/CAM software. * “It started out as a simple idea,” says Chairman Mark Summers. “I was a machinist. My brother was a mathematician. We combined our experience to put what was out of reach for most shops – NC programming software – right onto their desktops.” In the 35 years that followed, they have advanced dozens of important new technologies for those shops, including “smart” toolpaths, hybrid machining, mill-turn, multiaxis, their proprietary Dynamic Motion technology, as well as basic packages for milling, turning, and wire EDM. All of this couldn’t be possible without the valuable feedback from the industry and from what’s most important to CNC Software, the user base. In addition to manufacturers, the company has focused on selling and supporting Mastercam in the education sector since its inception. They first called the software program “Meghan,” named after Mark Summers’ eldest daughter, and then changed to “Mastercam” as a clearer descriptive of the software’s primary function. Today, Meghan is the CEO and Mastercam is the most widely used CAD/CAM software in the world, closing in on almost a quarter million installations at the end of 2017. “Mastercam users help drive our innovation,” says CEO Meghan West. “We’re in constant contact with shops, machine tool builders, educators, tooling suppliers, and they all help us focus on what shops need the most now and in the future, so we can deliver.” “One of the biggest reasons for our success is our global dealer network – probably the largest and most experienced in the CAM industry,” continues West. “They are true partners with our customers, offering advice, training, and applications experience to Mastercam users around the world. We’re also extremely proud to be the number one CAD/CAM program being taught by technology teachers in schools, colleges, and universities. Helping to train the next generation of skilled manufacturing personnel is an important mission of ours.” About Mastercam’s Global Headquarters Shortly after CNC Software started in Massachusetts, the company moved its base of operations to an office in Vernon, Connecticut. After a brief move to an industrial park, CNC Software built corporate headquarters in Tolland, Connecticut. When it outgrew that space, the Summers established the company’s corporate headquarters and training facility in a new, 38,000 sq. ft. building in the same town. The building was thoughtfully designed as a world-class “green” facility and built for expandability and environmental friendliness. In 2007, ground broke for a 12,000 sq. ft. addition to house a fully functioning Manufacturing Lab with advanced equipment for Mastercam product research and development. * According to CIMdata, Inc.
  18. Hello to everybody this is my first post so my questions is the next I configured my set-up sheet is working in 90% that I want the only reason that is no ideal is because to the tool list, I cant put automatically in the set-up sheet actually i use 2 ways to do this; put manually in the comments the tool list or create separate the tool list that i want is in the active report the option to attached the tool list simple i tried but for some reason i cant run the active report when i put the tool list in the active report i can upload the file in Rpx if somebody wants look the file
  19. I like Mastercam 2018 with the Hybrid toolpath, on my fireball cnc router, just need to fine tune it on the settings. Any thoughts or ideas would be great. thank you, everyone.
  20. Hi All, Awaiting Delivery of our Haas UMC-750 and speaking to our Local Mastercam Rep, I was told that there are 3 different posts that they sell for this machine. They asked if I wanted the CNC Software version, the In-House version or the Postology version. Can those who are currently using these weigh in and share any specifics you like , love or hate about any of the 3 as well as any known limitations, bugs or special features? I would love to know your experience with them before making a decision. If by some strange circumstance, one of you happens to own all 3 of them concurrently and can objectively compare them to each other (I know I am dreaming), I will buy us a pitcher of beer for the opportunity to pick your brain!
  21. So I just started using MCFSW. Already im missing the familiar mastercam 'ambiance' . I can model in SW and toolpath in Mcam. Modeling in mcam is fine for me too. So my question is....whats the real advantage of MCFSW? One thing that bugs me is that my spacepilot is inactive during verfiy in mcfsw. Thanks for any feedback
  22. Hello everyone, I have a little beginner problem with some parts i'm machining, they have a hole of 1.258 +0.002 -0.0. i use circle Mill on mastercam to rough and another seperate circle mill toolpath to finish with an M01 between the two, Now the problem i have is that the hole is not completely circular, i measured many different values ranging from 1.250 to 1.265 in the same hole. i try to change my offset to get the right tolerances but it can't seem to have one value when measures, i used my Lathe to create a kind of Go/Nogo, to quickly verify my parts, the go side has 1.255'' and the no Go has 1.563''. can i just rely on weather the go enters or not? or is my go way too small to give the right readings? On a seperate question concerning machining tolerances, i have had to machine a part like the one in the picture with a tolerance of 0.003'', but as you see the space walls are too long, so i can't have only one constant measurement between the walls all along them. (PS: the units of the drawing are in millimeters)
  23. First post! Hello Folks! Amateur programmer here only using mastercam for about 3 years now. A lot of the older guys like to have me do all the research on issues with their software. Let me get straight to the point. We have about 8/9 PCs around the shop running mcam, and 5 of which are full time including myself. Recently with the install with 2018 being released I installed it on all of our machines. Some programmers are not so quick to jump into the new release as others. Myself, I jumped right in. I encountered an issue with printing from and through phone calls back and forth, sessions with our re seller we were unable to come up with a solution or reason for the issue. Basically it would only print the top maybe 10% of the page and cut off the rest. Long story short I just resulted to printing to a PDF and then printing from there. Short work around, but work around none the less. I was the only one having the issue until a second machine started having the same issue. After some use and a few weeks went by one of our machines had encountered an issue where we would open MCAM 2018 and nothing would happen. No splash screen, nothing. Yet after some investigation opening the task manager mastercam would still show up in processes but nothing would be open. After working with our reseller and going back and forth with them attempting to fix the issue for days they were unable to figure out the issue or why this was happening. The reseller even got CNC Software involved and they couldnt figure it out. Our short term solution was to choose a system restore point previous to the issue. It has since happened three other times. Once more with the same machine and twice on another. Now this time the system restore point has not worked. These are just happening at random times upon closing/opening or on restart. Wanted to post here to maybe see if anyone else is having similar issue or may have suggests of us. Much appreciated! Sam
  24. Just wanted to let the community and moderators know that the most current update of Windows 10 completely disabled both Mastercam 2017 and 2018 HLE Edition for my desktop computer. Upon startup after successfully running though a few processes mastercam will stop on line commands and not progess any further, the blue wheel of death shows up and the only way to end the program is with Task Manager. Saw a suggestion on a thread saying that rolling back the update could fix this problem and after trying this fix it seemed to correct both of them so that they now load and run correctly. Is there any solution for this problems if I was to update back to the most current update? I tried the NVIDIA driver fix but it didn't seem to work, i'm not actually sure if my computer is running an NVIDIA drivers. This is a problems that needs to be fixed. Thanks, Robert.
