Ok so I’m new to the world of lathes and I have a Mori Seiki Mt1500sz. I’m programming with mastercam and trying to avoid a crash on my new to me machine. The main spindle programming is pretty self explanatory as far as setting the work offsets and all but I’m curious about work in the sub spindle after the part is transferred. I’ve seen where G54 is used on the main and G55 is used on the sub so with that in mind, do I run the first part of the program, let it part off and return home and then stop and set G55 on the face of the part in the sub spindle or is G55 calculated from the machine position. I can do about anything on the VMC but the lathe has me a little confused and like I said I don’t wanna crash. Thanks for any help it’s appreciated

Stock values output
Ivan Žugec posted a topic in Mastercam C-Hook, NET-Hook and VBScript Development
Greetings everyone. *This post is for Doosan Puma 5100 MA (lathe-fanuc) I am trying to get stock output for the parameters 19037,19038,19040 but as you can see on the picture above I am getting value as " .5 ", " 1. " and " 12." Is there a way to get output as 0.50, 1,00 and 12,00? To access parameters I am using groupinfo() function. OD_Stock_Size = groupinfo(19037) scomm_str, " | ", *OD_Stock_Size, "mm | ", scomm_end, e$ Or do you have better way to access those specific parameters and get correct output? Kind regards. Ivan -

I recently purchased a new desktop (RTX 3080 / 64GB RAM / i9 Processor) Downloaded the Mastercam 2022 (Including the update packages) ,and since the first try I have been dealing with the side menu graphical glitch. I have no clue how to fix it. Talked to my local seller and they didn't have any clue. I already made sure that MasterCam is using the high performance GPU from the Nvidia control center. I would really appreciate any help. Thanks,

Hi, I am new to mastercam and I am trying to understand how compatibility works. Are files created on a professional version usable and modifiable on an educational version and vice-versa? Is there any watermarking? If so, is it removable? Are files backwards compatible and usable in any version of the software? Can I use a file created and saved on Mastercam 2022 on Mastercam 2021 and transfert it back to the 2022 version? Thanks. Ps: I did a search before asking my questions, and I was not able to get an answer.

So I was in the shop late last night programming this 4th axis part, and well this morning when I ran a simulation, all my tools became TINY. The holders are the same, but all my tools are very small causing errors, even though it's programmed with a 3/16 cutter. The regular backplot works fine. Why does Mastercam have to do this? (In MasterCam 2018) Help me, When creating the Code does not go all the marked operations at once... Sometimes an operation goes alone after all the others have been processed, creating a g1 code for just one, and this operation has nothing different, it has the same tool, the same parameters, etc... 01.mp4 02.mp4

Hello, My name is Calvin, this is my first time posting on this forum and I’d really appreciate any help I can get! Recently, the company I work for upgraded from mastercam 2019 to 2021 and we did get new posts. All of the programmers including myself have encountered several issues with how mastercam looks for the post. Mastercam seems to always look in the wrong location for the control definition and post files. I’ve watched several videos and still I can’t get it to work. Part of the issue may be that I have 2 workstations (desktop and laptop) and I need to be able to transition the same mastercam file between both locations and save at each location and different points in time. I really need help on where I should have my post and control definition located as well as how to get mastercam to forget previous locations for the post and control definition. With mastercam 2019 we used to have our post and control definition located in a shared drive folder and now 2021 is still looking for that same folder although now we have the files located as follows: C/ users/ public/ documents/shared mastercam 2021/ mill. I’m not sure how clear my questions are but any advise would be much appreciated. This issue is really bumming me out and I’m very lost on how to solve it. Thank you!!

Hello everyone. So I’m working with 3+2 axis machine right now, and I got this problem with plane that has to make the head rotation to correct angle. When I created my first plane from the surface I need to machine it was tilted little bit of the part(because the surface is not flat all the way), and when I generated the code I got the head rotation angle like this: Q1570=-14; Q1571=+0; Q1572=-0.8; Q1573=+0; I ran the toolpath with this angle on the machine and found out that the end of the tool isn’t parallel to the surface I need, and after machining(above the part) some distance, the tool got higher then it was at the beginning of the pass. That made me realize that the plane to which the tool was rotated wasn’t parallel to the surface. Then I created a different plane and made it parallel to the needed surface, and it actually differs even visually from the previous plane that wasn’t parallel(see it on pics I attached). After that I changed the planes in my toolpath and generated the code again and.. nothing has changed. The angle to which Mastercam was rotating machine head was still the same: Q1570=-14; Q1571=+0; Q1572=-0.8; Q1573=+0; So I’m thinking that maybe I got something wrong going on with my planes in Mastercam. Also when I do other angled cuts with the head rotation in other places of the part, it places the head to the right angle that is parallel to a needed surface and it follows the toolpath just fine. Does someone know what am I missing? thank you

Im trying to section out my code for an upcoming part. This is a basic program that is using a 3 axis vertical mill. I used section NCI on this program then import it back into mastercam. After importing it back in I go to post the code on each process but I get an error "ERROR- SELECT MACHINE ACHIEVABLE TOOLPLANE WITH Y-AXIS ALONG MACHINE Y - SET AND REPOST" Ive gone back through my program and made sure that my planes are correct. They are all set to top. I even went back through and re-selected my chains for my toolpaths. Since im only using a 3 axis mill and programing from the top plane, I cant see what else I could do to fix this. vie attached my file below with out the broken nci files attached Any suggestions? Hello everyone, I have a father who is using Mastercam x9 and he has a 3d object/surface imported from solidworks. He wants to split the object in half but it is not a regular polyhedron, is there an easy way to split an object or adding an edge loop around an object. We tried the under Surface "Split face" but that did not seem to work. Does he just have to manually add edges around the object or is there an automated way to intelligently create that edge loop. I know next to nothing about Mastercam so I am not even sure if I am articulated the question very well. I do know a little 3d from blender for instance, in that software you can create an edge loop around an object and then split the object in half, is there some sort of equivalent functionality in Mastercam. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!
