  1. Hi there, We are an aerospace shop and we are considering Verisurf for our inspection department metrology equipment. Curious if anyone on here has used it in the past or is currently using it and what do you think of it. Did it truly help the way you were hoping? We currently have one lead inspector who uses PC-Dmis and if he ever leaves we are screwed. From what I have seen in videos and what i have played with in the free version it is super super intuitive. Plus, it sits in the Mastercam Platform making transitions easier. It is a little spendy but if a machine sits for an hour or more at a time waiting on a first article then it won't take long to see returns. Thanks for the info!
  2. Hey does anyone know how to change probe angles on the Verisurf automate tab?I am programming on a MItutoyo 5-Axis CMM. A lot of the learning videos and classes they have are on easy parts using a manual CMM.
  3. We use the setup sheet option in Mastercam and save to PDF so the guys on the floor at the machines can pull up the setup sheets on a computer. My request is; since Mastercam is already a CAD system why cant we do our screen captures as vectors instead of raster? If we could then we could zoom in on the screen capture and it would stay clear and PDF supports vectors. This is what is even being done across the web for websites because there's so many different screen sizes and resolutions. Vector is the way to go. I hope to see Masstercam do the same. Thank you.
  4. Hey guys, I'm a new user of Verisurf and after a month of studying, reading and working also with Master 3Dgage arm, I have a few questions. I thank everybody who'll take time to go through any of these... 1. How do you disable the articulating arm to behave as a mouse-pointer? When I start measuring and move around the part, the on-screen mouse wanders off the graphic display window and when I try to terminate the measurement, I'm clicking on something else on the screen. 2. Are there any recommendations on adjusting properties/settings for improved functionality of Verisurf/MCAM? For example, I took the Verisurf University course online and one of the first things was setting up the VDI Device properties to work in WinXP compatibility mode and starting up Verisurf in administration mode. Of course that was for Verisurf X6 and different windows, but is there something to tweak on current versions? 3. Universal CMM - How does it work with old machines? Are there any limitations to which machines would still operate under it? 4. Analysis manager: In best fit dialog, there is "use floating point" option. When would you turn the option on or off? What floats? Centroid of the point cloud? 5. Does Verisurf have an option to calculate the tolerance limit values? I have worked with PC-DMIS before and it was possible to enter basic size, fundamental deviation, IT grade and the tolerance values (when measuring form blueprint) would be calculated. 6. Is the axis of a circle defined with a center of the circle and the normal of the surface vector it is projected on? 7. Can someone explain Vector Offset? Offsets the origin of the line the specified value. Useful when using Vector Targets (also known as Hidden Point Rods) with Laser Trackers. I'm not sure what this means... 8. Auto align: Use for scale? when and how to use it? 9. Alignments: Do N-point align and register only differ in user defined options? Because both do a local transformation to the selected points, right? Is the only difference in choosing which points the calculation is going to use to transform the clouds? Or am I missing something? + I found the Technical tips document really useful and I'm wondering if there is any more literature I could get my hands on? Thank you! Miha
  5. I know this is a special application but I would love to hear from existing users about their experiences.
  6. HI guys, Random question here: Does anyone know if you can change the "Probe" diameter for the Verisurf Mouse? I use it to train myself on new commands when i dont have the arm available but for some reason it wont change from .250 Radius. Thank you

Tools include: Hole Axis - used to quickly get the center points and vectors Minimum Bounding Box - lets you select surfaces or solids and automatically calculates the smallest block of material in free space with options to lock the rotation if needed Hidden Line - changes surface model display for screen printing Screen Shot - takes screen shot and opens in MSPaint NotePad - used to add and save notes into your model Auto Flip Normals – used to automatically flip surface normals in or out on surface models. Power Select - used to select multiple surfaces with minimal efforts, select seed surface and it automatically selects all the connecting neighbors that are tangent or use the “V” hot key fast selection of all surfaces pointing towards Gveiw, this is great for organizing part separation. Once selected you can change color, level or anything else Mastercam can do with selected surfaces. They are for 32 & 64bit.
