  1. I will start by saying I am unfamiliar with multi axis toolpaths. i am having issues getting this swarf pass on the yellow highlighted surfaces, I do believe that im headed in the right direction tho. the tool seems too roll in at the wrong angle at the start of the pass and roll out at the wrong angle as well. i am using tilt lines for my "advanced control". below is some snippets of my part and toolpath parameters. i would be interested in sharing this file for someone to take a look the machine is a horizontal with 500mm tombstones, thanks much
  2. Hello everyone, I'm new to okuma programming and so far only know Heidenhain. (measuring was standard here and much easier) Is it possible to write a macro on my horizontal machine that measures / calculates the angle between two points in x and then rotates this value in the program so that I have "aligned" the workpiece? Okuma MA 600 hii with renishaw. maybe someone has such a macro? Many thanks in advance Regards Philipp
  3. Im learning how to program a mazak horizontal mill when i program off center everything works good but sometimes i want to do a simple part with no rotations and its own workoffset from corner of part so i set my planes on the part itself but when i post it my x,y,z numbers are way off. Do i need a different post for this method or just modify my exsisting post in some way. Im completely new to horizontal mills ive only worked with verticals hopefully this makes sense

This sample is in color as it appears in the eBooks version. The print version is grey scale. The Mastercam 2017 Horizontal Machining with Indexing Training Tutorial includes a project that describes the use of the Plane Manager for working with Tool planes and Work offsets. The material provides users with valuable information for defining and working with different standard and non-standard planes, and takes a look at using Mastercam’s Transform Toolpaths in a multiple fixture environment. The book explains the using of the WCS for horizontal machining and how to complete a Tombstone project with multiple fixtures on each face.

  10. Hi guys, how do I add automatic Z safety move via post before each B rotation? For example if I use same tool on three sides, how to retract out to Z0 home for example, before rotatingn B axis, thanks guys
  11. I would like to index my B axis while the tool change is happening. I remember seeing a webinar on the subject a few years ago but can't find it today. Machine is a Matsuura H plus with a Fanuc control. If someone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it.
  12. Good morning everyone. I've got a problem that I hope someone can help me with. I'm running version 9.1 on XP and the darn thing has a mind of it's own when it comes to nesting parts. I'll give grain direction to my parts, but on a lot of the parts it will flip them the opposite way so I have to manually translate, rotate etc and it takes forever. The older computer we had Mastercam on never had these problems, but this is a newer computer that had Windows 7 on it ( i think 64 bit version, but I'm not sure. I'm not to savvy on that stuff as the guy who worked here before me set it all up) that is now running XP and I'm wondering if that is the conflict. It's also a Hewlett Packard if that makes a difference.......
  13. I searched but cant find any info on programming a horizontal from center of rotation versus using work offsets. I have been programming our two horizontals using work offsets for each side of the plate that we have up. For some reason the operators mess up finding the work offsets from time to time for what ever reason. My boss is insisting i start programming from center using no work offsets. What are your thoughts. Our typical work consist of squaring a plate of various sizes four sides with a macro type program. And when we have to put slots, lift holes or short gun drilled lines in i program them with mastercam. I am using top as center then picking the face of the edges for my front, right, back, left offsets which front and back are G54 and right and left are G55. The plate is squared on center of the pallet. I don't like programming from center with no offsets because i have to manually enter a clearance, retract, top of stock and depth. When i normally have to only enter the depth because everything else is entered as a default. The boss wants everything to be monkey proof. He doesn't want the operator to have any responsibility other then hit the go button. I am insisting that we need to at the very least be able to enter work offset.
