Can people please chime in with cutter type and spd/fd combinations for peel mill or z-level milling of 6al-4v that they have found to work well? I've looked at the dynamic database and there's just not a whole lot there. I feel like asking for this kind of info may be dangerously close to asking for a post considering how delicate it is to get Ti to cut just right. Me personally....I'll put up anything that I've found to work really well. *I am using one 1.25 insert cutter and solid carbide .500" (flat) down to .250 ball. **Is anyone using ceramic for 6al-4v? Thanks in advance!! For you guys that are rocking Inconel....this one's mine: We run a 718 Inconel job faster than I've seen anywhere. Here's the recipe: 1) 1.25dia X 3flt Kennemetal Facemill (.25rad inserts) 2)Kennematal ceramic inserts: KIPR125RP43540 3)4584 RPM and 41.25 IPM. 4).100" axial cut 5)Full dia cut 6)Run dry! Oh yes.. 7)50 taper horizontal mill. You will see the prettiest color of orange-red chips spewing off the cutter. The work doesn't get hot and you get great cutter life.
I have searched the forums on how to enable HPCC in the post, but I have only found this thread: http://www.emastercam.com/board/topic/71735-aicc-g05q1-how-to-enable/?hl=hpcc#entry834720 It is helpful, but only shows where to enable HPCC in the misc values tab from within the parameters of a given toolpath. However, I see that there is a check box on the misc values tab that says 'Automatically set to post values when posting'. Is it possible to configure the post so that HPCC will be automatically turned for all toolpaths that support it, instead of having to individually enable each toolpath? Also, I did post out a toolpath with HPCC enabled in the misc values tab, but G05 P10000 was added after G43 -- Aren't all tool length offsets supposed to be canceled before HPCC is enabled, which would mean that g05 P10000 should go before G43? thanks Bret
Im trying to cut a portion from a block, picture a square split into 4 quadrants, and im try to only mill the upper right quadrant out. what is the proper Dynamic milling function, and entry method. I want to engage from the outside right corner, taking a few air cuts as possible. I can send mcx file to you if youd like to help. Thank you in advance...im having a f of a time EMASTERCAMHELP.MCX-6
