Hey everyone! I've watched a couple tutorials on importing Solidworks parts and the process seems pretty simple: In Mastercam, go to FILE > MERGE Change file type to SOLIDWORKS Files or All Files Select a file Then, in the tutorials, the part should appears on the screen after a delay, you can use different functions to position the part. However, for me, nothing appears after 5 minutes. The merging menu is up, but no parts. When I use the position button to move the part to the origin, nothing changes. When I try just clicking the green check mark, nothing changes. No entities or solids show up in the levels or solids menu. Had a friend on another computer go through the same steps above it and worked fine. Do the steps seem right to you? Do you know what could be causing the issue? Ryans part 1inch side.SLDPRT

I am currently using a stand-alone probing software. It works great. I machine big plugs for the Marine industry using a Poseidon 5780, with a 18m x 6m x 3m machining area, and because the machine is basically in a tin shed, temperature affects my tolerances to a huge degree. Anyway, i generally start of by machining a hole in a piece of tooling block. This hole is my reference hole which i use for "Re-aligning" my Work Plane as i work through the day/night. I can probe this hole after a few hours of machining, do a "BEST FIT", which creates a new Work Plane for me, which i then export as an ".IGES" file, which off course is empty, bar the new Work Plane. My question is: I can "File Merge/Pattern" this ".IGES" file, and obviously it is empty, but i was wondering if it brings the Work Plane with it, and is there a way of "Activating" this work plane in my Plane Manager, and setting this as my new WCS??? Any other ideas?

Hey everyone, hoping to gain some insight and maybe specifically help for my problem. I have the pro-e translator and solids on my seat. My question is once you do the analyze on the solid and it shows errors, is there a way to address the errors specifically? For example, I see the error similar to "vertice does not lie on face" or "self intersecting face" , when I click these I see them highlight in the graphics window, my question is what do those terms mean?? I have only had problems with a couple of files in the last few months of importing pro-e or .stp files. If this is something that needs addressed in the original database I would love to hear suggestions that I could pass on to the engineers, thanks.
