  1. My Multi Axis Deburr keeps making unexpected moves. At first it was really nice going around all the outside profile features then when it tried to deburr the hole(unnecessary since it's already spotted) and during the hole deburr it started to walk into the part. I tried excluding the edges of the hole but it just moved the gouge to another part of the program. Also I am getting that "vertical tool detected" error and I am not sure what to do with it when it prompts me so I hit enter and leave it at 0.0° which might be part of the problem. please help, I can provide a zip2go if you let me know where you would like it sent as it is too big to post here.
  2. Hello, So I am running an Integrex and am making a custom grooving tool and want to cut the pink surfaces with a flat bottom em ( a true flat bottom ). Making the toolpath was easy and backplot and simulation show correct only the posted code is different. I know simulation doesn't read code. The first initial B rotation is B-15. and this is correct. All passes after are reversed so the C rotates 180° and starts the cut at the top. When it does this I overtravel when the head gets to the bottom. When it is B-15. and works bottom up, all is well. When i run the first pass on the machine it cuts perfectly. Is there a way I can prevent/force the post to keep all the passes the same? Looking at the picture with the pink surfaces shows that the toolpath is clean and no weird jerky moves. I am using multiaxis Curve using 3D Curves for the Curve Type and lines for the tool axis control. I did try using Misc Integer 4 which is the start solution + or -. When I changed this that is when I got it to post B-15. on the first pass only. So it worked but not on every pass. I also do get a rotary/tilt axis unwind message. It makes one pass just fine, why can't it do the others that are the same cut? What are your thoughts? Thanks for any assistance.
  3. I was wondering if anyone has experience working with geometry created from 3D scanners. Our company is looking into purchasing a scanner, so the boss had a few 'test' scans done on a few things to see if we could machine something from it. One item that was scanned is an old copy mill pattern that was used to rough out a furniture leg that would then be finish carved by hand, so the scan is essentially a 100% organic shape. The laser scanner company provided us with a few different file formats of geometry that their software generated from the point cloud. They included a watertight mesh model as well as a STEP and IGES of surfaces/solids to demonstrate their software "Auto-surfacing" feature. So it turns out this is not at all what I was expecting with this autosurface stuff. I'm looking at thousands of patched together surfaces with flowlines going every which way and I'm not even sure where to start since I'm also still relatively new to the entire Multiaxis package in Mcam 2022. Our customer provided us with a glued up chunk of mahogany for stock that they would normally start with to carve this out, and our goal for this test run is to see how close we can get to the original hand carved part, thus saving our customer lots of time in labor hand carving the entire piece like they've always done it. It doesn't have to be perfect, but I'd like to see how perfect I can get it. We have a 4th axis rotary on our VMC and so far I've been able to get some 3d roughing paths rotated around the part. but now I'm really struggling to get some of the multiaxis toolpaths to work right on these odd surfaces. Flowline and multisurface won't work unless I painstakingly create my own surfaces. No luck with mastercams "surfaces from solids" tool. No luck using the new "overflow UV" tool. I tried to painstakingly re-draw my own surfaces on this, but then realized that kind of defeats the whole purpose of the Scanner Software "autosurface" feature. I've been exited to try out the new mesh modelling and toolpathing options in the new 2022, but I can't really get it to work right. Not entirely sure how to use a mesh model to drive a toolpath.... I can attach a file if anyone is interested to help out with this or provide any advice, but its a huge file so I might have to trim it down a bit. I have attached screenshots of the part that show the mesh model and also the solid surfaces that were patched together.
  4. Our shop just got a hold of a new HAAS rotary axis (HRT-310) for our VM-6 machining center, and I'm still new to the multiaxis package as I've only been using it a few months now and just updated to mcam2022 last week. Using a generic HAAS 4X post processor provided by our reseller, so far I've been able to cut some basic wood carvings running multiaxis toolpaths on 3D scan geometry of antique furniture carvings. It's been working fine until sometimes my post will forget a feed rate on random blocks during continuous 4x movements when inverse feed movements should be happening. This causes my HAAS to give a "NO FEED RATE" alarm. When I checked with our resellers and they checked my control definition settings they said everything looks fine it should be posting out inverse feed time, and that it must be a setting on the machine or "something weird" with my toolpath geometry. I know the machine will alarm with no feed rate is given on every block, and I know get this alarm with even simple geometry as well. It's been weeks now and still haven't found any solution to this. Customer needs their part that's been chucked up while I scratch my head trying to get some code that doesnt make my machine alarm randomly in the middle of a 3 hr long program.
  5. I was using 5 axis drill to hit 3 sides of a part but when it goes to the back side it uses the feeds from the tool definition instead of the ones i defined in paramaters. This is weird because the first two sides of part it does use my defined feed from paramaters. I just changed the tool definitions feed to match for my tap but why is this happening? my tool settings under machine group always has feed calculation "from tool" checked but it only reads what i have defined in paramaters. Please shed some light on this I suddenly feel like a newbie T4 M6 S3800 M3 G0 G54 G90 X.9005 Y-5.0125 B180. A-90. T5 G43 H4 Z8.911 /M8 G81 G98 Z2.096 R2.311 F8. 8. I am making a port 3" deep pretty much its a 2 x 3 rectangle with 3/4" rads going down to a 2.25" square with .2" rads. I have this mounted between centers in a 4th axis. I am using a morph toolpath to machine the finish pas on these ports but for some reason I'm getting lines in my corners and sometimes across my flats. almost like the toolpath doesn't line up while it goes around. I am going with a .1" step-over so it should be fairly smooth. Any suggestions other than a bunch of polishing?
  9. Intended for the advanced Mastercam user, this book contains new projects demonstrating a variety of Advanced Multiaxis milling applications. The initial tutorials introduce Mastercam’s simplified multiaxis user interface featuring custom application toolpaths, and they later transition to the more advanced interface. Topics include Tool Box toolpaths such as Projection, Impeller floor surface and Impeller blade swarf finish toolpaths. From the Wireframe toolpath family, you will learn how to use Parallel to multiple curves and Morph between two curves. You will also generate rough and finish toolpaths from the Surface/Solid toolpath family, such as Morph between two surfaces, Parallel cuts, Swarf milling and Parallel to surface. Additionally, a special project is designed specifically to familiarize you with different Collision control strategies and how to verify the toolpaths using the new machine simulation module that combines toolpath backplot mode and material removal mode with collision detections.
