  1. Hi all, I am using someone else's program as a template to machine a part. I'm doing this because the part's are almost identical except for a few angles of some features. While redoing the avoidance geometry selection of an OptiRough path I had a bit of trouble finding what level the geometry/solid used for selection was on. I ended up just using the Arrow used to select additional geometry and then turning on and off levels one by one until I found the highlighted features. I believe someone once showed me a way to find level details very quickly but I think it was for something else other than Machining/Avoidance Geometry. I'm hoping there might be something similar to find the source faster than my current method. I need to re watch the 2 hour tutorial someone gave me on Vericut because I have a feeling it may be mentioned in there already....
  2. Have any of you run into this issue? I can't show this model, but essentially what is happening is that as this material gets thinner, the step over increases when it whips around 180 degrees. When done, there is no fin left, this is a recessed area. I'm using a 1/2" endmill in hardened stainless 4% radial engagement. It does not like the heavy stepover. For what it's worth, I'm using 2021. Any tricks or 2022, 2023 have a fix?
  3. i posted this in another thread but have a feeling it may get lost so, i am using the Dynamic OptiRough toolpath and want to inspect / change inserts on a high feed mill. i activate the options but i do not see an M01 or M00 posted at the set time intervals. Is this a post mod that's neededd to achieve the above statement? TIA
  4. I'm trying to clean out corners of a mold thats a fan blade, with a .046" ball em. Everything I've tried..mostly optirough..just give me results that I cant explain. I dont know how the settings influence the resulting toolpath. I've got it finished otherwise. Can someone please take a look at this? IGES file attached. Thanks in advance, RESTMILL PROBLEM.igs
  5. Hello everyone. I've been given the task in my shop to improve the roughing and finishing of an Open pocket with radius and a drafted wall. Attached is a file with geometry similar to the part as the original file is a flat mess and REALLY big. My question is, this open pocket is in a clevis that was machined in a previous op. Now I'm working on the back side of the part. I want to use Optirough to rough out the pocket so that I can stitch the drafted wall. After I set my Drive/Check planes, the tool path starts at the end of the clevis and cuts air all the way to the area I want cut. If i use containment it now treats the area as a pocket, not an Open pocket. Is there a way to trick Optirough into cutting an Open pocket without all the extra air cutting? In the file attached is an open pocket tool path that is what I'm looking for, but when I add the clevis part it changes, As shown in the attached file. Take a look and let me know what you guys think, Optirough Test.mcx-9
  6. I was trying to create a surface area rough operation and kept getting this error. I tried to change it to opti and got the same error. Any ideas?
