  2. Hi all, I am using the book 'Learning Mastercam X7 Mill 2d Step By Step', which includes a 'Mastercam Design X7 Demo/Home Learning Edition' CD. Everything was going fine until I start learning toolpaths in Chapter 5. When I click any button in the ‘2D Toolpaths’ or ‘2D Highspeed Milling Toolpaths’ toolbars it says, ‘requested function can not be run from Mastercam Design X7 Demo/Home’. So, I can't use the demo software from Chapter 5 onwards, i.e., about two thirds of the book. Anybody know a solution for this? Can I upgrade this software, or do I need to buy another version? Thank you.
  3. Is the easiest way to import a step file and align it for toolpaths? How to Align a Solid Body Select the “Turning” tab ribbon In the “Utilities” area select “Align Solid Body” The function controls will appear instantly Prompt will ask you to select a cylinder part face or circular edge Once selected the graphics view will spin the part to preview the results Select “Method” to “Transform to plane” Select the plane you want from the list Click “OK” Part will now be lined up perfectly You can shift the zero position with the “Push/Pull” Select the “Turning” tab ribbon In the “Utilities” area select “Align Solid Body” The function controls will appear instantly Prompt will ask you to select a cylinder part face or circular edge Once selected the graphics view will spin the part to preview the results Select “Method” to “Create WCS” This will create a new plane with option to name the plane You can also use the “Push/Pull” to shift the zero position

  6. Version 1.0.0

The CAD Import & Mill Advanced Toolpaths Training Tutorial consists of projects and accompanying practice exercises. It is intended for intermediate to experienced Mastercam users who are primarily importing 3D geometry from another CAD software package. It is strongly recommended to have a good understanding of 2D machining (provided in the Mill Essentials Training Tutorial, for example) before beginning this book. Each project explains how to prepare the imported geometry using levels, how to check for problems in the geometry and how to move the geometry to set the work zero. All of the parts are designed with machinability in mind and include suggested fixtures and tool setups. Clearly laid out objectives and step previews make it easier than ever to follow along. This book covers Surface Finish and Roughing toolpaths with an emphasis put on the advanced Surface High Speed toolpaths. Other topics include STL Stock creation and its use in solid model verification and how to create and manage Stock models in the Toolpath Manager. Machine Simulation is used to check for collisions between the part, the tool and any of the machine’s components.

  22. Hello Mcam world. So I have this part coming up that will require a lot of surfacing on pocket floors. For a while now I've known about Emuge Circle segmant endmills but never really needed to apply them till now. The pocket floors will all have 30" radius' and they are a pretty good size. The endmills that I think would work best would be the "Lens-Shape". The Pockets are not deep, maybe .300 but I want this for finishing only. Does anyone know whether Mastercam 2017 has multi axis toolpaths that support these tools? Is there ad on tools I can get to support it? Anything you know on the subject or a link to another thread if it's been covered would be great. Thanks in advance
