Hello everyone, I am new to Mastercam and still learning it.

Recently when I doing practise there is a step call us to make rough Step over .05’’ in rough turn (Picture 1)

post-60932-0-28747800-1429038369_thumb.jpg

But I haven't find anything called "rough Step" in the lathe rough properties.

I wonder if it means Depth of cut (Picture 2). If not, what is it?

Besides, when it comes to the groove step, there also comes several problems (picture 3).

1. Depth .05'', but I haven't find "Depth" in groove properties.

2. We are suppose to use a medium tool. However, It seems not fit...(picture 4 & 5)

Post the file.

1)  yes,   depth of cut.

2)Medium tool?    You must define a tool.

3)Look on groove rough parameters page.   Define your stock clearance.

I've attached the file.

And after try several different stock clearance, the warning still appear each time I try to Regenerate all dirty operations.

What did you do to avoid the warning?

And is it the "medium" tool I'm suppose to use?

BTW, thanks a lot for your help :p

First I changed your stock clearance to .100

Changed your groove walls to smooth.

Changed your % of tool width to 45%.

As far as the "medium" tool.   Ive never heard anybody use the term to describe a grove tool.

But yes, that tool would work fine.

Happy to help.
