Thanks to all of you progress is being made: I added control def. EOB characters for ; and " (59 and 34 in ASCII) and now these symbols are on the end of each code line. This is a big help as it's easy enough to substitute "N for N with any editor. Thanks for pointing out how to get CIMCO editor working as this is another way to get these symbols, of course. BTW - I tried just the ; on the end of the lines but it didn't work, the first character of each line was missing when read at the machine. I even tried ;" ;"" and ;";" at the end but no go. I will look into the post editing as mentioned above for the "N after I learn more about post editing. I do appreciate the help as generating ;" on the ends was the higher hurdle by far.

Thanks, fellows, I appreciate the help. I should have mentioned that everyline can start with a N#. An example of a valid code line would be "N010 X1.0 Y2.0;" . Question about CIMCO Editor: I used it a few MasterCAM versions ago for this very purpose. I can't find it now in my seat of ver 5. Maybe I'm overlooking it or is CIMCO an option we may not have loaded now? (As you can tell, I'm not the software support person here.) My best to all...

Hello,
One of our wire cut EDM's requires a " in front of each line and a ;" at the end of each line. Example: "G01 X1.0 Y2.0;" .
What would the best way to do this be? Is this something to be done in the post or is there a better way?
thanks, Tom

Hello, I didn't realize what the different colors meant with MasterCAM X editor. That is a helpful feature and instantly shows when I don't write something correctly. Thanks for pointing this out. Best regards, Tom

Hello again,
I'm pretty sure my saving problem was caused by genius me somehow having saved the post in two different subdirectories. But I'm glad I did this and posted this question because otherwise I never would have learned about the ConText editor. Best regards to all - Tom

Hello,
I did some minor post editing and now keep getting this error message when I try to change the Control definition. "The following posts files were added but not saved! C:\Users\Public\Documents\shared mcamx5\WIRE\Posts\SODICK AQ325 single pass EXP1.PST Do you want to restore the dialog to save?" (A screen shot of this is attached as a .jpg file.)
I previously copied and changed the .wmd-5 and the .control-5 files to the same name in the \CNC Machines folder. This is baffling as a previously renamed .pst, .wmd-5 and .control-5 files were working.
Thank you, Tom

Hello,
I tried to add a few comment items to a post to come out with the G40 (items in parenthesis). The first comment I put in works fine, comes out everytime with the code. I tried to add a second but it won't save in the post. I am using MasterCAM X5 wire, "File" "Edit / Open External" to open the .pst file and save it. What am I doing wrong?
thanks, Tom
Changing wire condition and offset letters
in Post Processor Development Forum
Posted
Hello,
I am modifying a wire post. Presently the first pass condition and offset codes come out like this: "S1 D1". 1) Is there a way to change the "S" to "C" and the "D" to "H"? 2) how do I get the actual values from the tables instead of the 1's which represent 1'st pass?
thanks...
