DirectX 9.0c problem

When I was installing MCX, I couldnt install directx 9.0c. There came an error message that it was not supported by windows xp?. X seems to work fine but is it going to effect somehow?

I have tried to download it elsewhere but it does the same thing. Pc that we use to programming, has no network connection so we cant get any windows updates to it. That might be the problem?...

Well if you install SP2 for Windows XP, DirectX 9.0c is included with it. Do you already have SP2?

No SP2. Pc is about 3 years old and no updates after that. Today I managed to move it to another place, where I have internet connection and tried to use windows update, but it gave an error message, when it was installing program called: Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS) 2.0- ja WinHTTP 5.1 and wont go further.

Is it possible to just skip the previous updates (SP1 ect.) and just install SP2?

Yes, you don't need SP1 or any other updates to install SP2.
