Store tool numbers

Is there some way to store tool numbers in the post so it can tell if a tool has been used earlier in the program?

there is a setting in your control definition to warn you if you've used duplicate tool numbers

mowens what are you trying to accomplish?

 

Are you trying to number your tools in your post and need to jump to the next number so you don't have identicals. Or are you setting up some kind of other check?

I want to take the tool numbers we use out of our library and renumber them sequentially in the post for use by our vendor, but if, say, I use T22 (our library tool number) in 2 non-consecutive operations I want to use the same tool number in each operation rather than the post incrementing automatically. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I don't want to end up with 2 T numbers for the same cutter. But, I'm pretty much flying blind.

I might be missing something here, but you don't have to do that in the post. You can renumber the tools through the tool path manager and it will handle it exactly like you described. We program this way also.

Thanks for the info. The main reason I wanted to do it in the post was so I could reference the original tool numbers in my pwrtt block without having to edit. It may be more trouble than it's worth.
