Blank Desktop after X?

Anyone else see this problem? Occasionally, when exiting or minimizing X, I only find a blank desktop, no icons. My granddaughters picture is there as a background, but no icons. Hittting the "show desktop" icon in the lower tray doesn't do anything either. Win. 2000 pro, QuadroFX500, with the MR1 download to X. It did this a few times when X first came out, then quit it after one of the patches, now with MR1, it did it this afternoon. If I reboot, everythings normal again.

I would guess this is a video driver issue of some sort.

 

Make sure you are running the latest drivers for cards.

I originaly had to back off to an earlier driver for the card, per gcodes post on other issues. Maybe it's time to try the new one again.

Do you have your graphics acceleration turned down and do you have transition effects turned of?

 

If not go to desktop/right mouse click/properties/settings/advanced/troubleshoot/now put slide bar 1 position to right of none/ok/appearance/effects/uncheck transition effects.

 

Give this a try, if it doesn't help you may have go to the other driver.
