Has anyone ever used the chook function 'read_cursor_pos' (in M_MENU.H) to get the mouse position in the isometric view ?

It returns a 2d coordinate. How do I convert this into a corret 3d coordinate (using Z-depth as the Z location) ?

Use the point_proc() function in m_menu.h instead. It returns a 3D point (p_3d) so there's no conversion neccessary.

thanks but i dont use point_proc because autocursor keep snapping to objects which is annoying. unless you know how to turn the default point entry to 'sketch' mode in c-hook..?

It doesnt quite work...try displaying the p3d on screen, you'll find out that its displayed on different location than where you clicked on...

I can't see another way. If there was a way to force point_proc() into using a selection method, then we'd be all set

No. It only sets Mastercam into point selection mode and then returns how you picked the point, the actual 3D point and whether it worked or not. I ran into some fun with depths not appearing the way you'd expect but I was dealing with p_3d's and not p_2d's, which made it easier to deal with
