Install to Mcam8CommonEditorsDaveEdit

where DaveEdit.exe is the name of the actual exe file for the editor.

Edit Mill8.txt as follows:

[file edit]

(this line contains the Number of Editors listed - if you add one, make this bigger)

1. "5"

2. "MCEDIT"

3. "PFE32"

4. "CIMCOEDIT"

5. "NOTEPAD"

6. "DAVEEDIT"

(these 2 blank lines must immediately follow the editors AND be numbered properly)

7. ""

8. ""

You can then make this editor your default under Screen Config Start/Exit.

DaveEdit is not a registered trademark.

The name in the menu must match the directory name, which must contain the same name with a .exe extension. Does your install satisfy all of these requirements? You can also try the "Other" editor, and just hunt down your exe, wherever it may be on your system.

I was able to launch the editor by reducing the folder and executable name from approx 10+ characters to 6. It appears Mastercam didn't like the longer name. I'm now seeing another potential problem with the g-code file not passing and being visible. When I chose a g-code file, thru Mastercam, the editor will launch but without any code. Any suggestions here?

Toby, I basically use the Predator editor for all my editor needs.

So I make this my default editor have been doing this for over a year now.

So when I post a program the editor comes up with my program.

When I say File, Edit, NC this launches my editor.

So enough talk and now for know how.

What I do is go to MC Dir, then in to common folder then to the Editors.

From here I create a new folder in my case "PRED"

And in there I copy the "Pred.exe" in to this folder.

Now go in mastercam.

File, Edit, Editors then pick from the drop down list "Other" then go to the editors in side the MC Dir, pick the Pred.exe file.

Work every time.
