Windows 98 Directory Problem?

I teach Mastercam at the NTMA in Ontario California. We have 20 Identical PC's running Mastercam in the upstairs lab. Windows 98 is the OS. We have the students create a folder in the MC8 folder to keep their own files in. On rare (though more frequently lately) occasions a folder will just propogate itself creating folders 100 or so layers deep. I have tried to reproduce it but to no avail. Any one else have this issue come up? My personal thoughts are the students are leaning on the keyboards or on the mice in just the right way. None of my customer's have called me about this either. I feel like a dork for calling CNC on this if it is OE (operator error) related.

Thanks for your input.
