remaining finish stock 3-d

I am unfamiliar with the programming of mastercam and one of the items that my programmers constantly run into, is getting the material out of corners when doing complex 3-d shapes. The first roughing cutter might be 1/2 " ball leaving .01" stock. When we send in the next tool-lets day a 3/8 ball leaving .002 stock, the tool does well until it gets into the corner where it runs into the excess material from the 1/2 tool. Is there a cutter path that will pick at the remaining stock. gradually taking the excess out and still keeping the cutter engagement top the correct specifications.

Welcome to the forum! cheers.gif

Check out surface finish/Finish Leftover Toolpath.

You can define it from the previous operation or a tool diameter with radius that was used to finish or rough. You can have it overlap into the previous cut area or you can cheat by telling mastercam the previous cutter was a .385 dia. when it actually was a .375 dia. cutter.
