Xform problems

WinNT SP6 on a P111 800, Matrox Millenium 300

When doing an xform on a small file with a few dimensions added, the system locks up and the computer has to be shut down by the on/off switch. Task manager will also hang and can't be used. Any ideas out there for a fix? If the dim'ns are deleted first, there is no problem.

We have all Mill 7.2c and one design. This has been a problem on all the NT stations for some time ( a year ) but I just found out today. These other NT stations have other video cards than the Matrox. Just had a call from another Mastercam user running NT with an Oxygen card, and he can't seem to get his surfaces to change color ( screen, chg color, all surfs). Also Ver 7.2c. On my Win 98 system, I had mouse, printer and render problems until I updated DirectX to Ver7.0a. Apparently Ver 7.0 had a bug. My system runs fine now, but sometimes its a pain being the 'guru' when I have 12 systems in the place.

The crash in XFORM when moving/copying Labels has been lurking inside of V7 for awhile, and only recently did we find what we think is the problem. We sometimes (I can't figure out the pattern yet) make Labels in V7 that are buggy. It seems that this is almost limited to NT, but don't quote me on that. Note that the problem does not exist in V8, due to the extensive re-write of the drafting code. If you E-Mail me at [email protected] (including a MC7 file that causes you problems, if possible) I think I can hook you up with a C-Hook that can correct this situation.

Your other issues you raise sound like Graphic card anomalies, but you should contact your dealer and make sure he passes these problems along to us.

When I have seen this problem, the machine doesn't lock up. It grows the db.ovf file to fill the entire hard drive, then the machine crashes. Most people don't wait for their hard drive to fill up though. It takes quite a while when there are a couple of gigs free.

One computer needed a reinstall of 7.2, the other computer worked fine with a new hard drive but the original install!!
