Getting this error when opening solidwork file

modeler has run out of virtual memory

What version of Solidworks files?

 

V9 can not open the anything after SW2005/2006 I believe.

 

That is one of the biggest arguments for upgrading and not using the older version. Translator issues.

We just upgraded Solidworks to 2009.

Yes, your right about MC not being able to open a solidworks file with a .SLDPRT extension. To get around this I would have the solidworks file converted to a parasolid and then use the parasolid converter to open the file.

 

Update, I guess the file does open after I cancel the error massage. I assume that the error massage might have something to do with SW 2009

saving out as a parasolid will be an issue as well, the default parasolid used in SW2209, is I believe V19

 

If memory serves me right the oldest parasolid, MC9 can open is V13.

 

So you'll have to save back as that version to get V9 to open it.

You also may lose some information. The V19 has features the V13 was not able to produce.
