line segments to chains/splines

Hey all you Mastercan Guru's! I'm attempting to create a logo in Mastercam. It started off as an Adobe Illustrator image, converted to outlines, and imported to MC as an Autocad R12 dxf file. The curves and splines came in as very short line segments, which in some sections are broken and do not chain fully. Is there some way to convert the outline path line segments (thousands in a small logo) to a less CPU intensive spline? I attempted Create->Spline->Automatic, but it did not let me pick the lines (levels are not masked). I did an Analyze->chain w/ create trouble spot geometry selected, just in case I would trim the offending lines together individually by hand, but no trouble was detected at the broken lines.

Does anyone have hints/tips on how to join these broken line segments into one spline, or atleast one chain? Thanks very much!

If possible, have the AI file translated with "Raster-to-vector' C-hook. Should give much better results than DXF. Avoid DXF whenever you can. Thousands of little line segments are the normal result of DXF translations.

Also Rhino can read AI files and then export them as IGES.
