Allen Bradley Series 9 Communications

Control: Allen Bradley Series 9

Machine: Motionmaster Router

Does anyone know how to get this to communicate via RS-232 (cable config, etc). Rumor has it that you need special software from Allen Bradley, that standard RS-232 won't work.

If so, do you know the name and source of the communications software; couldn't find it on the AB site.

Charles -

The Allen Bradley 9 series does not require any special software when using the RS232 port. We have complete documentation on this controller and more than willing to help you out.

As always when dealing with RS232 communicationsm, begin by sending from the CNC controller back to the PC. The PC will be "forgiving" if you have the settings (ie. data, stop, or parity) wrong. Then take the same program and send it back into the control.

We also have the Predator Grizzly Cables that will make the wiring a snap. No soldiering or crimping required.

Feel to call on us to assist with any CNC communication problems in the future.

Greg,

You already did help.... thanks. The info you provided the other day worked right away. Just a basic Null Modem cable, and set the computer to E,7,2 and the control to an "Intelligent Device" and N,8,1. That was the real trick, knowing to set the two devices up differently.

I REALLY appreciate your expert advice. It's nice getting help from a company that really knows what they are doing.

Charles
