System Response area

The system response area on one of the computers in our lab, has sudenly apeared in the middle of the Graphics View Area. Was always at the bottom. Anyone know how to get it back there?

Any help would be greatly apreciated as it really blocks the view of the geometry.

Alt-P will turn off the prompt area. I'm not sure how to relocate it.

We had something similar to this happen once and fixed it by putting the Mastercam CD in and running 'Repair'.

If the system prompt area appears anywhere except at the bottom of the screen, then there is something wrong with Mastercam, your graphics driver or your Windows installation. I would suggest the following sequence:

 

1. Scan the entire HD with an up to date virus scanner.

 

2. Run Scandisk, including a surface scan.

 

3. 'Repair' from the Mastercam CD-ROM as BerTau suggested.

 

If 1-3 still has not solved your problem, install the latest driver for your graphics card. If no newer driver is available, you may need to uninstall the present driver first.

 

If you still have problems after that, then you may have a hardware problem.

 

A 'Repair' from the Mastercam CD-ROM may solve the problem, without first going through points 1 and 2 above, but that may prove to be a temporary solution, depending on the cause of the problem. Treating the symptoms of a virus or a failing HD without dealing with the cause of the problem can cause worse problems down the road. If your boss complains about the time points 1 and 2 will take, ask him how he would like to loose 2-3 days programming work on that part that has to be delivered tomorrow.

Some graphics drivers have a dialog box 'auto center' feature that must be disabled under the Display Settings.

Thank you all for your responses. It was the "auto-center" setting for the display driver. Thanks Dave!! Just un-checked the box, and now all is well!!
