result = nwadrs(strp, main_prg_no)

When using subs in drill cycles, I want to start the sub programs with the first number after the main program. Right now it always goes to 2.

 

I've tried logic statements that add 1 to "progno" but it no workie. (Actually, it works on the first sub, but the later ones revert to 2 again.) I believe it's because of the "result = nwadrs(strp, sub_prg_no)" line, but I'm not sure what that does. Would anyone like to educate the ignorant??

This changes the format statement for output of the variable. Earlier in the post you will find that 'strp "P" ' statement.

 

So . . . if the post format statements had earlier assigned sub_prg_no to print as O1234, then after the reassignment it would print as P1234

The NWADRS command allows you to assign a new

format (fmt) prefix to a variable.

 

In this case, it's assigning whatever string is contained in the string variable STRP to the

formatting of the SUB_PRG_NO variable.

 

(STRP = "P" in the std MPFAN.PST)

 

So... this is NOT causing the change you see in the VALUE being output. NWADRS only affects the letter address output when you output the value in SUB_PRG_NO

Rekd - Download Mpmaster from the Posts area and search for the following:

 

main_prg_no = main_prg_no + sav_progno

 

That does the trick.

 

e.g. O1234, first sub is O1235 (and the second level of subs is O2235).
