5 Axis Mori NMV 5000

Recommended Posts

I am using Mastercam X5, we had a post that was done but needs some more tweaks. Right now when I program I set the WCS for the B axis centerline and create toolplanes for index and rotated features.

My question is should I ask to have the post and or Machine definition to have the B axis rotation point which is 80mm from the table surface added to the post?

I am not sure what may come up programing wise and would like flexibility if needed. We are not using the G54 thru G59 offsets but may use the G68.2 in the future.

Thank You

This is really a user preference. The post can be setup either way, either you need to compensate for the offset when you're positioning and programming the part or you can have the post developer setup the post to account for the 80mm shift and you wouldn't have to worry about making that 80mm shift in your program.

If you aren't using your work offsets, how are you setting the part up at the machine? I would recommend figuring out the datum tracking on the machine (usually G54.2) then you can set your part where ever you'd like and just set the vector on the machine that indicates where your program is referenced from.
