More conversion issues,

 

I'm trying to read an .eps, and the usual >file>converters>eps>read file does not work. I played around with opening it in Photoshop and re-saving with some differnt settings (Ascii, and various size changes), but that did nothing. I've compared previous eps's to this one, and can't descern any difference. Any thoughts?

Opening it in Photoshop may have rasterized the file. A better app for that would be Adobe Illustrator or Macromedia Freehand. What kind of error message does Mastercam return when you read in the EPS file?

Good thinking...I had a buddy open it in Illustrator, re-save it as an eps, and now I can open it.

 

Originally I was just trying to open the file directly from my customer (not through my Photoshop), and I would see the usual error "contains pixel data that cannot be converted"..I'm used to seeing that error, but eps files will usually open anyway. So what is the difference between Illustrator's eps and Photoshop's? (other than the fact that I can open one, and not the other! ) My sense is that Illustrator is vector based?

Correct. In Adobe's product line, Photoshop handles raster file types and Illustrator handles vector file types.
