Compensation of spindel tolerance

Hey,

I got following problem: My x and y-axis of my milling machine are pretty imprecise, i can move them to left and to the right for 0.1mm.

Therefor all my cuttings are up to 0.2 mm to small or too large (depending on cutting direction).

I searched the internet, if mastercam can compensate this, but i found nothing. Maybe you can tell me how i can solve this problem?

Thanks and cheers

Tobias

It is possible for the post processor to compensate for this; but not practical.

I would look into what the "backlash" issue is:

Worn nut on lead screw

Loose/missing key on pulley of lead screw or coupler to motor.

Thrust bearings on lead screw worn out

Poor design

There will be an adjustment in the controller software to correct for the backlash; the values for ball screw machine would be under .0002" or .005mm

Definitely try to fix the backlash mechanically before adjusting for it in the parameters, large values will make loud noises and potential damage when the axis reverses direction.
