Is it illegal or bad programming practice  to switch from G54 to G55 while G68.2 is active?  Or should I cancel G68.2, then switch fixture offsets, then recall G68.2?

You must cancel the G68.2 Tilted Work Plane Function before switching to another Work Offset.

G68.2 works only with the currently active Work Offset.

 

Also the G68.2 origin definition should be done in G90 Absolute mode.

Even if you are currently in G91 Incremental mode, the G68.2 origin definition will be read as an Absolute position

within the currently active Work Offset.
