Lock on first WCS

Recommended Posts

Hey guys. Im not sure if this is in the right forum.  I hope so.   I recently moved to a new company and am having some issues with a simple part program that ive made very similar ones of at my old job.

its a cylinder with a company name engraved on the 4 quadrants of the part. Using axis substitution,  When I programmed this I tried transforming the tool path to rotate around the right side view, when I back plot it everything looks fine. Keeping everything in g59. (we use g59 for all 4th axis ops) When I post it, it just re runs over the same spot as its already machined. Then I tried creating 3 new operations and tried milling on new planes at A90 A180 A270.  yet it continues to post the exact same values 4 times in a row.  in the tab to select your plane where it asks to pick a value for the Wcs.  I input #5 for G59 . If I do this its still posts  the exact same A values.  if i change it to go 59 on the first engraving and leave the box blanked for the other 3. it outputs a g54-55-56 and the correct A values to rotate the part properly. But this is a part that will be ran multiple times so we want it as simple as possible for the operators to setup so with for different work offsets we could only forsee trouble. Ive tried everything I can think of.  Unless its something simple im missing.  Im lost.

I used to program with mcx7 on a customized haas post with the option in the misc values section to lock on first wcs, Which i am almost sure that I had to check before to make this work for me.

I now program on mcx5 with a mazak post.  in mcx in the misc values section there is no check box or option to lock on first wcs.

You were likely using a modified MPMaster post previously, this is something they build into the base posts....

If you can't or don't want to edit your post, you can always just set your places/WCS to use the same Work Offset number

I think I tried that as well. Setting the plane/wcs to use the same work offset. With no luck but I will try again tomorrow to make sure.

Ive edited the post at my old job with the help of our mcam reseller talking me through it before. Im just not sure where to look for things in the post. I was hoping it would be as easy as going in and changing a 0 to a 1. To turn on the locking option. If not I will find a way around.

It sounds like it was an option added by someone into the post; it's not likely to just be a switch. However, making some logic so first WCS = all WCS wouldn't be that hard.

However it seems odd that your transform operation is assigning new offsets even when you tell it not to. Are you using the transform operation to do that or are you working around it? If you are, are you sure you have the "work offset numbering" button check to "maintain source operations"?
