English to Metric Units, and vice-versa

I get prints in both english and metric units. Most of my metric prints have the reference english dimension, but they are not always correct. I can check them all, and do, but I would like to create the geometry using the METRIC CONFIGURATION. I changed the cfg file to mill8 (metric), created and saved the geometry, switched to english, but then I had the same numbers when I analyzed it (i.e. 60mm became 60 inches). I read about using regedit to change the UNITS from E to M, or M to E, but that didn't seem to work. I tried changing in both Mill8 and Design8, but that didn't help either. Am I not doing it right?

Please help!!!

I have Mastercam8, using Mill lvl 1,2,&3 - they all act the same way.

after you switch back to english, scale the file 1/25.4 about the origin. this will convert the geometry to the correct units

It seems like a temporary fix?

Is that the way the program was intended to function?

If it's possible, get cad drawings or models to import, that way you can have the imported file automatically converted when it's imported into mastercam.
