deep endmilled round groove

i have to cut a very deep round groove in an aluminum part.ill spiral it down with lotsa coolant.

I also would like to comp it.the groove is the exact width of the endmill .250.

comp on the top is no problem because its off the part.

I kno I can retact from the bottom before comping off  but this usually leaves a line where it comes up.is there a way to spiral back up and out?

of course I would like to come up with a much courser pitch than going down.

You don't say "how" deep....but the answer is a smaller endmill.......size on size I'm no fan of...

Check Harvey Tool they have lots of long endmills in stock

sorry john.they want .145 wide 1.65 deep.(do you or I ever sleep?)

that's out of the question for me even trepanning in the lathe.

I have to cut this this morning with tooling we have on hand.

I got them to settle for .25 wide but I still need to hold +-.002.

I have a pretty rigid looking .25 em but 3/16 looks kinda flimsy.

im sending the .25 in right now and retracting after coming out. ill letcha kno how it goes.
