  1. It miight be that CimcoEdit is looking for the liicense using a chook or something. Mastercam will not look all thetime for the licnese so Cimco does not get the info that quick.

You can get free of charge a license file for NetHahsp when sending Cimco or your dealer your SIM number. They will send a license file. Then it works without any waiting.

  2. Do you use Nethasp? If so, when CimcoEdit OEM version is checking the SIM, the Nethasp check is sometimes slower. If you use CimcoeEdit Pro (recommended anyway), you get a license file and the SIM is not anymore tested. Cimco will also supply a license file free of charge to those with this problem. Your dealer should contact Cimco.

  3. Most probaly the error is in the config file. There is section [data paths] that you should check. If you have not used any own settings or paths, you can just delete the cfg files. Mastercam will build them at the next time it is started. The default values will be used, so you should first save the old cfg files in case you want to merge old settings.

  4. I called them. It is a temporary problem as it worked a few hours back.

So you should try again later.

As for the donation. This is , of course, free, but I just thought it is polite for the one who did the application that someone remebers him (or actually her , in this case.)

  5. Mastercam metric tool libraries have had quite poor feed & speed values. The only good one is the Steel-mm.tools. Of course, no libary provided can has the values as you would like them to be.

If you want to generate libraries that could suite you much better, just click on this link

    http://mastercam.ilmatar.net/tool_lib/index.php

If you find it useful, you could consider making a donation. We could get the guy write some other useful application, if he finds that he can get something for his work.

  6. I remember meeting some Autodesk ex-boss who told that with all those versions they had (OS/2 , Mac, Silicon Graphics, Sun etc) there was just one version (PC) that made any money. It could have been that there was one year were they made some profit with the Sun version. All the other version were losing money.

I would not recommend CNC Software to lose monet this way.

  7. Thad asked about the difference. Of course, you can create the tool libraries within Mastercam. And you should save the settings that you have found to be good. Also you should not have all those tools in the libary that you never will be using.

The idea is that you can generate a libary quickly. Creating libraries tool by tool is quite time consuming.

All the new ideas are welcome.

  8. The reason for this site is that at least the metric tool libraries that come with Mastercam have values that are quite unusable (except for the Steelmm tools, that is the one I made)

The idea is that you can look create your own libraries using those values found in tool manufacturers' cataloques. Of course, you really still want to fine tune the values according to your work and equipment.

I guess the guy who did this is interested getting more info on the lathe tools.

  9. Here is a link, where you can generate your own tool libraries. This is set for metric, but you can adjust the values for inches.

    http://mastercam.ilmatar.net/tool_lib/index.php

Generating the tool libraries is free, though there is a Donate button. If you find the libraries useful, you should click on the button. There is something else in the works, too. Please send him comments

You can give names to the tools, too. So the Spanish can call drills Taladro etc.

OK, this is for X4. Maybe there could be something for X5, once that is out.

    Please give this a try

  10. How about adding the MMD files as metric for those outside USA?

I dont think there is away of converting inch MMd to metric MMd

I dont know if there would be any diffence but it is confusing to see "changing to inches" when ever ypu open MMD.

  11. Did you try the Camaix NCX2Check that has the same interface as Machsim but does use the actual NC code? I am not quite certain of the current price but it should be only a fraction of the Vericut price.

I attended last week a webinar for setting up the machine for Machsim. I was actually surprised how easy setting up the machine. the hard part is getting the solid model of the machine. The machine tools manufacturers are not always so helpful in provideing them. But once you have the solid model it is fairly easy. I think you get the machine setup, when you purchase a program that does use the actual NC code.

  12. There is a 108 page Mastercam Focus Series tutorial available (at lesst as PDF) . Ask your dealer for Creating Setup Sheets with Active Reports Designer. It is done by CNC Software

(also available in Finnish, should you need one)

  13. There is also a much less expensive solution for NC code machine simulation by Camaix. The simulation looks like the the standard Machsim add-on, but does handle NC code. Their product is called NCX2Check and it works within Mastercam. By the way, they also have an add-on for synchronizing lathe programs.See www.camaix.com

  14. I think if you can find the original mtb files and copy them in the config directory, it would be fixed

These files include the category names and some other strings. It does not make your localized Mastercam much less localized even if you would use the original English ones.

The original mtb files are dated somethong like 21st May, 2009. They are not updated by MU1 or MU2.

  15. You need to have an IP address. If you are not logged to network (Internet connection gives you an IP address), the haspserver cannot be used and Mastercam won't run

I think there is a device that you can plug in that fools the PC to believe it is connected to network.
