    Thanks all! I ended up translating the levels and extruded the bottom separate from the top and cut body the hole through and counterbore. Now to work on the toolpath portion of the exercise.

    I am trying to cut body 1" deep step 8 places into the solid I have created, but all I get are these walls (see attached word doc). I have tried going back and redoing the trim extend and join with the no change when it comes to extruding. I have tried selecting with chain and partial chain.
