  1. Solids, most definitely. Solids in MCAM-X4 is only good for primitive type models.

The dynamic x-form and dynamic planes was a dig step in the right direction for CAD in MCAM-X4.

I can get surfaces to do almost anything I want but drawing the geometry to build them can a real pain.

  2. We use the Creaform RevScan and Rapidform.

    The RxScan is pretty cool.

I have had some major long cutting programs running lately so I have had a lot of time to play with the scanner and software.

This setup is going to save me so much time and gray hairs. smile.gif

  3. I haven't had any problems with Win7/X4 compatibility.

I never use the drivers that come with any of the mouses I buy. To me they are just bloatware. I guess you need them if you are using a mouse with 5-7 buttons though.

The input device software I use is for my Space Pilot Pro.

It has a few issues but nothing major.

  4. I draw 95% in MasterCAM but that is slowly changing.

I am starting to do a good bit of work in Rapidform. It is much more user friendly with the "organic" shapes I have to draw for architectural metals we make.

I can sculpt some organic parts, scan them with the 3D scanner, then export to MC to set tool paths.

  5. Guys I am not a machinist, so I need advice.

My boss has me machining some brass kick plates on the GR-510 router.

I want to use a high speed 2d path if possible.

The stock needs a 2.25" wide X .125" deep pocket around the outside.

I am using a 3/4" carbide endmill and a kool mist.

What speed and feeds would you guys use on this?

  6. I have searched previous posts and none of them answered my question.

I am trying to roll a piece of geometry around a radius using XForm Roll. I can't remember the right procedure.

    It is a 45.904" radius.

  7. I am having trouble just getting my HAAS to cut a smooth surface. Everything looks great in verify but when I try to cut it I keep getting these ridges.

    MCAM 1

    MCAM 2

I have used 1:1, 2:1, 3:1 filtering with the same results. I am using smooth on the motion gap.

I am going to try it with direct and see what happens.

Do I need to add information in my explaination?

  8. I know this is a simple problem but I can't see the forrest for the trees. I work on a HAAS GR-510 router. This happens when running a multiple tool operation. The machine will go and change the tool to the long tool but, even though I put the maximum z height, the tool will not z up but come straight across running into the stock causing a crash. This happens when I run a regular length tool first and then switch to an extra length tool. If I run the extra lenth tool first it doesn't happen. What is going on?

  9. Sometimes the setting on mine get screwed up by no fault of mine. First of all I restert to see if that will do it. The other thing I do is go into the settings and turn this function off click OK then turn it back on click OK. This usually does it for me.
