Hi all,
I am working on a logo for a customer and he wants the outline filled in with a pattern. I don't have the engraving package but almost have it working with a pocket toolpath. The only problem I haven't been able to fix is the tool dradding across the pocket to catch other parts of the pocket. There's not many settings to work with and I've tried other paths. I'm getting close but needs a little more tweaking.

I don't know whether we'll be getting X3 or X4 but I'm kinda nervous about it. What kind of questions should I ask our reseller prior to releasing the PO?
I have a 1 day Transition class included for both programmers.
I have asked about compatibility of our graphics cards.
I have asked about updating our current post.
Are there any hot topics or "I wish I had made this clear before the purchase" issues I should address.
I really hate to upgrade when we have a pretty good system, but I know it's inevitable.

I was using the wrong tool type for the application I was trying to use the tool for. Though I would pass this along to you.
Thanks to you and the search button

Please forward a copy to me also. Sounds like it is quite popular.
I currently use a spreadsheet for reference.

In addition to the above, make sure the drill extends from the toolholder (twice?) as much as the hole depth. If the holder comes close to the TOS, any slight misalignment will break the drill off at the holder.

Here is what I am currently running on CimcoDNC for Fadal.
2 stop bits, even parity, 7databits and 9600baud. Software flow control.
enable "dtr"
enable "rts".
It took me a couple of hrs setting up the cable because I forgot to ground to the chassis on the rs-232 box.
This is what I was looking for, along with the above discussion.

Thanks, thats enough info to get me going.

Sorry, I haven't taken the time to figure out how to quote.
Even if you upgrade your machine memory, you are still limited on program size.
Yep, surely I will eventually need more memory again.
--------------------------
The last time I checked, memory is very expensive for the amount that you get. And a cheap pc is $500 or so.
My local service place says approx $2000 for 8Mb.
----------------------------------
Why can't you use the computer that you progam with mastercam?
Doesn't DNS tie up the machine while transferring data?
-
Wow, thanks for the fast response, Jeff.
How many machines do you have that you communicate with?
Just 1, Fadal 3016L (2002 model)
------------------
Do you have Cimco? It comes standard with V9 but not with X.
Yes, ver 4.32.09, MasterCam ver 9.1 SP2, and I use Cimco to edit/check my programs.
-----------------------
If you have just one machine, I suggest the cimco edit 5.
Why do you prefer ver 5?
-------------------------
if you have more than one get the DNC-Max you wont regret it.
So, do you think it would be more worthwhile to get a dedicated PC rather than upgrading the memory?
What else do I need to consider?
-
I see this is an old thread, but it's something I've just learned about. The above are details about DNS communications. Would anyone be so kind as to provide general info about DNS. I've just recently started using files that are larger than my memory space. It's rather expensive to upgrade memory and thought it would be chaeper to get a dedicated PC to trickle feed the mill.
Any recommendations? Advice?
Thanks, sorry if this is a stupid noob question.

and mastercam crashed while attempting to save.
I have been having the same problem. After pulling out most of my hair I turned off *Norton Auto Protect* virus software and it went away. The network guy said it makes sense because Norton interferes with disk activity.

I use BlasoCut 2000LF. Sswitched from simi-synth about 2 years ago. I had all kinds of tapping problems in aluminum and salesmen would tell me it was the coolant. I thought they just wanted to sell me coolant. I never believed them until I switched, mainly due to cost of coolant and freight. Running 10% but could go a little lower.

Matthew, great suggestion, I saw that on a Youtube video once and forgot about it.
Thanks for the tip.
BTW, that's a lot of work but I can save it and scale for other products.
