I had this problem with the exact same controller. I called my reseller and e-mail them my post/machine files, and they had it working quickly. If you are under maintenance it's the easiest way to go about it.

i prefer wiha, just because i've had good luck with them holding up compared to a few other brands i've tried.

i can get them through msc at reasonable prices.

Yeah, I had loads of problems when upgrading/migrating. I finally wiped the registry keys and config files and did a fresh install. I then imported my machines and some operations. I also imported custom toolbar/mouse setting, but I did not use the migration utility. I used the update folder.

see page 52 and 53 of the What's New Files for an explanation of the compatibility error
C:\Program Files\mcamx7\documentation\WhatsNew.pdf
yeah i've run into it before and probably looked it up the first time around. I was just noting that the x7 test file had been altered to x7 compatibility. I was surprised by how much more quickly it went in x7.

using the "new" x6 file
X6 MU3 = 00:09:06
X7 SP1 = 00:06:21
a little surprised. got a cut direction compatibility error in x7 (which it "auto updated").

I have had the X7 verify tool show crashes/collisions that aren't visible in backplot, and the program ends up running fine.

CNC Software occasionally hosts a few, but I haven't found them all that useful. eapprentice.net hosts free ones from time to time as well, and they have been fairly useful.

Had a couple lockups since the update. The first completely locked up the computer and I had to do a hard reboot. The second lock up went away after about 3-5 minutes of waiting. I have been playing with it since then (a few hours) without any repeats. Even installed X+ and it runs fine.

I've had MCX7 completely stop working at least 3 times now. The only fix I've had work is to rename/delete the config files in documents/my mcamx7/config/ and delete the x7 registry folder. running the migration utility is sort of like playing russian roulette. Like others have said using the "update folder" feature (and manually setting your folders in some cases) is a much better option.
Speak of the Devil. Right after I made this post it happens again, so make that 4.

We use Harvey for tiny/oddball stuff. They offer a wide variety of diamond coated cutters, and stock has always been good.
