  1. There are two passcodes to get to these depending on the machine installer....some set theirs differently to others so that the whole world doesnt just pass the same codes around.

One passcode lets you into the machining parameters which allows you to change speed/feed characteristics...tolerances on geometry etc.... and the other lets you into the machine's parameters which are the on/off switchs to different areas and parts of the machine.... solonoids, boards, etc

Sounds like you may have loaded the parameters of one machine into the other and allthough the initial software will still remember where your tools are ....setting and loading them up manually can be a PITA

  2. Welcome back Elad.....Good to see you are well and that you have brought more into the fold.

Im sure in the future you all will plenty of questions to ask and the majority here are willing to help.

You will find a wealth of knowledge amongst the many pages and people that rely on this website.

We only ask that you do not feed trolls along the way for fear of you becoming one yourself ;)

  3. If you click on the parameters page you will find linking/roughing directories etc that will alloy you to step this down with the endmill as well as side step and you can add a lead in/ lead out to this toolpath...If I add more to this toolpath above I cannot put it in on the page as it maxs out at 2 megs

The tool path presently uses the OD as the drive surface and the chain around it as a cutter comp guide.

When this has been roughed down you can either use smaller steps to get a finer finish on the side walls with this toolpath or use surface contour to get the side wall nicely cleaned up to the highest point on the OD from the front view

  4. Here is a Curve 5 axis locked in the 4th....the distance increment and the curve follow method have been changed to .2 in the " cut pattern"

so that I could fit them on this page...max is 2 megs

They normally default to .05 and .005 respectively

The origin is the tool control as Ja.....errrr CNC guy mentioned above :p

HTH ...this is for referance only mind you :)

  5. Welcome back Snehal :)

Subject areas?...Basics to begin with ....lead ins and out ....pocket strategies, helical milling, "DRILLING",...3D curve cutting and what you can get away with....... Advanced modelling, surfacing, 3D surface roughing paths as well as finishing, 5 axis advanced toolpathing and techniques.

Its really hard to teach someone 5 axis with out even the basics....not to mention why, when to switch to 3+2 to full 5+ axis and the benefits of being able to change back and forth.

  6. ok ....so what is difference from all the other toolpaths ie Blade Swarf, Floor surface with/without curve from this one?....and why does it not exist in Mastercam itself and is an addon?...I have to ask as we specifically bought this software for items that not too many machines can produce other than impellars but with the same technical applications.

I dont mind programming this step by step but would it not be considered the same as 3D surfacing ?

You see I got this 6 year old asking me all these questions and he doesnt understand the grab for money concept thing...He just wants to program the part with a reliable software and the only way I can keep his wages down is to provide him with an "Easy" button in the toolpath directory :p

  7. I've used blade expert to create some multiaxis toolpaths,.... B)

It's like having FBM for impellers. ;)

As stated previously it's an add-in, blade expert is designed to work with impeller/prop type geom

    If you only knew ;)

  8. So I am browsing through my software package looking for the best possible 5 axis toolpath for this job I am working on and there at the end of the page in the bottom right corner is.........Blade Expert................AHHHHH YES.......that is exactly what I need....OMG!!!!!!!!....it looks perfect for the application that I am doing ...I double click on it.....nothing ....Huh?....whut?......I hit escape....Msg comes up...invalid code?.....wait...WHAT!!!!!????????....I feel like a dog whom has just been teased with a dangling roast that just got ripped out of my jaws and was thrown in the campfire....So its call my reseller time and find out what is what...or is it what it is or why a full 5 axis seat still needs access codes to tool paths ....I will keep you informed ;)

  9. Did you just call here?

Dam Greg...You should have introduced yourself

    LOL

*if you have no luck with the contacts that I gave you then call again I have local ppl that can do this but the shipping will kill ya and the lead time :(

  10. I have only seen Cracks of V9 that will work on a 64 bit system and they are sketchy at best....I have run into a few ppl whom have gotten a disk from a friend of a friend and then they ask me to fix their laptop and I just say they're not supposed to work together...cant help ya sorry.

I did run into an HP with Vista on it with a legit copy of Mastercam but owner ended up wiping Vista and reloading the whole machine with XP :(

  11. Dum question....are you using work offsets with the rotary table?...uhhgggg...I can beleive I said that ...but when you are doing alot of production parts...you have no choice but to do so when you are cutting vices all the time.

  12. quote:

I am sure someone in the "snow country" or Canadians must use something the "heat up" their coolant ...

We usually set up a scrap block of steel for the next morning and take a quarter inch cut with the face mill and pile the chips up and huddle around them to keep warm..You can take some of these and break the ice layer over the coolant tank and drop them in to warm the coolant up....make sure you dont drop them near the pump....recommend you put them in the filter part for best results. biggrin.gif

no seriously ...most of us dont have heaters on the coolant as we dont let the shops get that cold when working to tight tolerances.

  13. +1000 Bruce

Picture if you can a heavy block of ali being mounted in a horizontal with just a dovetail plate of .06 x .03 deep in the along the 18 inch sides. The block measured 18x14x4 thick and we pounded that block with 1.00 carbide gars buried 1.00 deep....(lots of joined pockets)...once that operation was done we rotated the block around and flipped it inwards in vices to machine the back and remaining sides taking the dove tails out.

The shallow gripping power is far superior to alot of vices that are out there and works fantastic.

With smaller parts we could stack them in the long vice with seperate back jaws and perform the same types of operations on the parts.

Takes a little R&D to work out what you want but worth it in the end if you are trying to do alot of production

    just my .02 pesos wink.gif

  14. I hear the home school one is pretyy hard....

place check mark inside box .......[]

    ....spell the word P*A*S*S

    ....spell the word F*A*I*L

Now place the checkmark in the appropriate box

    [] - PASS

............PLACE THE CHECKMARK IN ONE BOX ONLY

    [] - FAIL

  15. Im going to have to chime in with Garf and Bruce here...we just set up our ethernet on ours and used TNCremo...Had to change the IP address on the machine as well because of the first 3 characters. They were 200.XXX.XX.XXX and our system starts in the 190.XXX.XX.XXX

If the controller on the machine has "Windblows" on it you can dial it up to have instant access via ethernet and get instant access all the time without the issues for copying tons of files into directories off the server

    Good Luck

  16. The outside button rougher/finisher is offset from the center axis of the part rotation...ie 3 inch button cutter is offset behind the cutting direction by 1.1 inches...Gives us .001 flat and the material is not being forced up underneath the cutterwhile while it is rotating.

We then hit the groove with a 1.00 mitshubishi high feed cutter that is offset .35 behind the cutting direction as well and the finisher is a varible endmill that allows us to cut perpendicular to the axis
