  1. I've been out for about 5 years so bear with me.

In x2 I had a Chook that I got from someone on here. I had a cam lift table with degrees and amount of lift off of the base circle. I remeber opening it up and it would ask for the excel file, the base circle diameter and if I wanted points or a spline. I can't for the life of me remeber what it was called and I am searching now but not having any luck can someone help me out?

    Thank you

  2. I have been able to rotate a C axis cross contour toolpath in X2 I have X3 now. It throws an alarm when you try it and if I try to do it I get strange rapid moves at the end of my depth cuts on every cut but the original. It says try the tool plane method. Anyone?? I am trying to cut 60 teeth on the OD but I don't know the Toolplane method. I could rotate cross contour toolpaths in X2 Whats the deal??

  3. I have been trying to cut a part Using C-Axis Face contour. I have the endmill going right through X0.0 on the machine (the center of a 7" piece of round aluminum). The toolpath shows good on MC but when I run it. The endmill goes around X0.0 It makes an arc around the center. I don't know what to do. Thank you

  4. 2) If your stock to remove on one step is less than the nose radius of the insert MC will ignore it sometimes, particularly with Canned toolpaths, so you may need to drill the hole smaller in MC than it really is in order to prevent this.

    I do that offten.

  5. I only use Lathe. I use it everyday. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME!! mad.gif It happens to me about 1-2 times a week. I am waiting for changes to happen. It is part of my routine to check and make sure there are retract moves on ID tools after I post. Sometimes it doesn't want to put them there. I was 10mm in a part yesterday and it wanted to send the drill home. curse.gif

Sorry it just pisses me off when I hear this stuff

  6. It's not production stuff. It is prototype. I should have made it clear I was in a hurry. The OD is to be held that tight. The surface isn't that tight. They are supercharger rotors. I am new to milling on the c-axis and the guy before me just used it for cross holes so he is not much help. I am just looking to see if it can be done.

  7. Ok I have a part on th FTP site. It's in MCX2 part number 331132. On level 2 I only have one surface (no solids option) I only have level 1 mill and I have a C axis machine no Y. Is there anyway I can program it with out getting level 2 mill? Is level 2 mill enough? I have a special cutter to finish the valley in the bottom. But can I do the fins without level 2? Thank you for the help.

And bonus question: What machine would you all recommend to do these rotors. They are aluminum and need the OD to be held very tight +/-.005 mm

    cheers.gif

  8. I don't have solids I am not cool tongue.gif But i get the model in as surfaces orient it in xform. That is level one planes are top D Z. Level 2 is create curve slice. I select all surfaces. Then delete duplicates. Shut off level 1. now open your chooks Alt+C and select findoverlap.dll Select everything and then hit cleanup. If I get gaps, and the only time I usually see them is with a cross hole or something of that nature, I will change to right side and rotate the part (45 or 90 depending on the parts) and slice it repeating the steps. It should give you a clean model and it takes about 1 minute after you get used to it. If you are not getting good slices send me the model I will check and see if it works for me.

  9. I did the update and backup when I installed X2 MR2. I don't know if that is part of the problem? I just pulled the c-hook out of my old version X I keep on a different drive and it worked in X2 MR2. I don't know why? I tried 80% of my chooks that were in X2 MR2 and Findoverlap.dll was the only one that didn't work headscratch.gif Anyways it works now!

  10. I just upgraded to X2 MR2 SP1. I get the chook error when MC starts up. I used some chooks ok, but when I tried findoverlap.dll I get Incompatible C-Hooks internal version number. Recompile and relink the C-hook. banghead.gif

How do I fix this most of the models I get aren't clean and I need this C-hook the most. Is there a quick fix besides A new install? I really don't want to have to come in tomorrow curse.gif
