Hey Mark! how the hell are you. still at the sugar Factory I see. I also use Win7 and X5mu1. I had the same problem but got around it by using the snipping tool, Paste into paint , select picture and right click, at bottom of diologue box click invert color.
Save to a folder or just select picture again to copy to clipboard. you can now paste into any Excel(setup sheets) or any document. Hope that helps ya!!
P.s Thanks for all the help in years past .

Same machine just use Toolpath Groups and Different WCS for each op.
Different machines for different ops then use Machine Groups with Toolpath Groups.
One File for a job is alot easier if files are named by job number or part number.
With Rev Changes on a part number just copy and edit Rev Version, make changes and post.

That is exactly how I do it. when you verify toolpaths, The result of the rendering should look just like the finished part or solid I do a different machine group just to program a fixture or tooling.

I have had nothing but problems with Predator in the past and I dont like it. The Backplot would crash my computer. I have been using CIMCO EDIT with Backplot for years now with no problems whatsoever. IMHO, The best Editor on the market! Cant stand to use anyting else. Download the Demo and check it out. Also, Way,way less expensive than Predator!!!! Less than $*** a seat.

Happens to me too! And sometimes when you click yes, it messes up other tools Too!! This has got to be a bug.

its OK to drop an MTB file in , but an X4 config file will hose an X5 install every time.
open a config file in a text editor.. its 80% paths and the X4 paths are all wrong for
an X5 install
ok, but the difference here is that I never had X4 installed in my computer. I went from X3 MU3 to X5. I have been running X5 for about 5 months now with no problems. The problem started when I updated X5 to X5 MU1.

Thanks gcode, looks like I do have to re-install X5 and X5 mu1
Hey guys! I found out what the problem was My custom MTB and/or Config file got curupted during MU1 installation. beware!!!
After un-installing and re-installing (backed everything up first), still had the same exact problem! Uninstalled again, This time deleted My Mcamx and shared Mcamx files. Re-Installed X5 and X5mu1. so far, looks like good fresh install. Re-placed original Config and MTB files with my backed-up, custom files and Bingo!,same problem again.
Luckily, I had backed up all MCAMX files on server 2 months ago before updating to MU1. Re-loaded My original, custom MTB file and its all good now.

I just had the Veisurf guys out here to do a Verisurf X5 demo.
We got the same issue.. the Verisurf guy says its because our old lazer track machine
is running XP SP1. He says we need to upgrade it to XP SP3 and reinstall X5MU1
Thanks gcode, looks like I do have to re-install X5 and X5 mu1

Hi James, I did have the Cimco c-hook as my default startup file. I have removed from my config settings and also as JParis suggested deleted from c-hooks library but It is still doing this when I re-start X5. Any other ideas?? I hope i don't need to uninstall and re-install.....

Just installed Mu1 over X5(which was running great with Machine simulation) and now I get a diologue box that I have to click on at least 10 timess
that says " Mastercam.exe-entry point not found" - the prodedure entry point(and
then it list all these files.) and my machine simulation icons are
missing.
(I should've waited for mu2,3,4,or 5)
Has anyone had this issue? Mastercam eventually does open up.
sigh---one thing is fixed, another falls apart...

All good advise. I would like to add adjust lead arc sweep angle too (if using arcs)! and make sure "adjust start of contour" is not checked "extend"
-
I would say that it is partially fixed.
Now in X5 we have what we can call tool assemblies.
Once you've assigned a holder to a specific tool it will stick to the tool for this mastercam file.
Also if you change your holder in an operation, you will have the option to update all assemblies at the same time.
Yes, I have been doing this but every time I start a new X5 file, I have to do this every time. It is a great feature but I want a tool library with holders every time. we use mostly shrink fit holders here and some holders and tools dont change for the most part. I hope they are working on this

Maybe try looking in the Machine group properties tool settings tab. Toolpath Configuration, uncheck(if checked) Assign tool numbers sequentially. Also, I opened an MCX3 file in X5. Imported tools to new file. (because of Rev change). Re-generated a toolpath without selecting a tool and also got the T0. After I selected tool, re-generated and all was good. deleted the T0 when I was done. Hope that helps.

So, has this been fixed for x5? Can you save tools and holders together in a library so you get both when you click on a tool?

I use the Microsoft Paint program. For example, I use the "copy image to clipboard" function in MCX and window copy what i want, open "Paint" program and paste. crop as desired. I invert the colors so it doesnt print the black background, and sometimes convert to black and white then save to a folder.
open Excel, use "insert picture from file", find your file and paste. drag it where you want it. p.s. if its a solid you want to copy, make sure to highlite yellow first, then copy. when you invert it will come out light gray in black and white mode.
hope that helps.

Mic 6, took these pics from 1st prototype run. drilling and tapping not done yet, checking part flatness.
-
Jeff, too late for that. material has been ordered cut to size. Mic6, have not started cutting yet. still waiting on delivery. This copper ingot is expensive before I even touch it !! Dont you guys just love jobs where you only have one chance to get it right???

Ok guys, I'm taking your advise. We will stress-relief stock before we start, rough it out and if needed, a second stress-relief process. Thanks again

In need of some advice. working on a piece of c110 copper about 6.5 x 19.35 x 1.750. A lot of it gets hogged out leaving islands and pockets. The first time I did this job, rough out all features leaving .05 an all walls and floors. When it came time to finish features to size, the part warped big time. We had to bend parts straight on an a large arbor press before we could re-machine finish passes and it warped a little more. what a nightmare!!! now, we have 100 parts to make!!!!! Has anyone had this problem before and will an anealing procces help? Thanks for any advise.

I'm cutting Garolite (G10) with a PH Horn diamond-coated router burr cutter. any suggestions on speeds and feeds, technique?

WOW! 400sfm sure seems fast for 40rc steel. but, ok..... I dont have airblast on machine but a air gun works too. is coolant ok to use or will it shorten the tool life? thanks for the input.

I have to make some fixtures using kapstar mold steel. Can you guys give me some advise on machining it and most importantly the SFM to cut it . it comes pr-hardened to 40RC.
Thanks guys!

It's a 1 time mod from the customer so I'm making a fixture with mitee-byte uniforce clamps (and a torque wrench.)

I do not have verisurf and get that same error sometimes when I try and print a solid part for my setup sheets.
