  1. Hey Jim,

    This happened to one of my customers on quite a few occasions it seemd though that he did not undo the dimension but did delete an entity tied to the dimension and he had many hours and many levels into this job and lost it all. Did he have backup on? Yes but you do not know that the file is corrupt until you close out and try to bring the file back. by this time he had all 10 of his backup files corrupt too?????

    Pete R is trying to save the file for us.

  2. If your part is a solid you can analyze the volume where when a density is added will calculate the mass (weight)

    Here is the output of the dimensions you stated with a density of .002

    Current Mastercam File (MCX) Name = CALEDONIAN

    18:53:43 Tuesday, July 24, 2007

    Volume = 2269.800692

    Density = 0.002000

    Mass = 4.539601

    Center of Gravity = -0.000000, 0.000000, -1.250000

    Cheers

  3. Hi Liz,

    I know we spent some time going through all your new tool creations,How draw the Tools and set them up and also your block drill creations and how to define them and then how to use them and then your post fixes. Are there more questions or things we need to cover?????

  6. Hi Ken,

    I would like some kind of Vault system where you "check out" your file. When a file is in use only a "Read Only" copy can be opened while that file is in use. Other users would recieve an email notice that the file has been changed when saved by that user. Also a utility to see who has the file open. (similar to the nethasp) and an automatic note system that would track what user had opened and changed the file, this file is encripted so that it can not be modified so would be a true tracability notice board. You would also need a user manager system that would give rights to certain users to modify the file and lock out others. Files could then also be put on an approval list which would lock posting of the file until it had been approved by a senior programmer. Expand the File properties to tag it to a customer, project, machine, DWG#, REV #, PO # etc. Then include a search by any of the file properties listed. Also make it that a file had to include at least a DWG # to be able to save the file on the approval list, other wise place in a file pending directory.

    Just a few ideas hope this helps.

    Regards Karl

  7. The 3 Files are the dll, the txt and the .scr file you also need to set your envirometal variables:

    CGTECH_INSTALL : C:CGTECH (OR install Directory)

    LSHOST : "Your PC Name that matches License"

    Once you have set these then run the Chook.

    Regards Karl

  8. We have Posts For the XNC and the RT480,- They also support the Gang Tool Changes, ie three tool changes all together if you have multi heads. CapTech also have some good Biesse Posts too. If you send me a sample NC file that your running I can take a quick look to see if there are any glaringly obvious mistakes. Is your codes using incremental for your 3D work?

    Regards

    Karl

  9. Hi there Foolish,

    I see what you mean I even tested the Beta V5 and it does the same. I think a good idea would be to move the found item 3/4's the way up so that we can see just above the found item as well as just below. What do you Think?

    Regards

  10. Hey Ak762

    If you have the points just use create an automatic spline by picking 1st point 2nd point and then Last.

    Hope this works for you,

    And hey winnie - I know what you mean but the backplot and save toolpath has it uses too so your method has been great for me many times. I remember trying to convince Brian Summers to make the change so that it only saved once then defulted back to "no save" other wise that could be another mess to clean up back in the Bootcamp training days.

  11. Hey Guys

    If your doing positioning turn on your Rotary Axis and set it to positioning. Then in your backplot setting make sure your set to simulate fourth axis is switched on.

    Now you should see your part Rotate even if doing just positioning.

    I use it all the time for Tombstone work

    Regards Karl

  12. Hey Pdinter,

    Have your dealer put you in touch with some other wood shops using vacuum to hold down.

    This process is very common and typically will have an MDF sacrafice board with a grid of holes

    drilled thru. The MDF is also porous and helps with the vacuum. I would also get a tank to put in line to act as a resevoir this way you will find a smaller pump is required.

    Talk to the guys Selling either Biesse - Thermwood - Mordibelli or even Anderson these all offer machine with Vacuum solutions so may be able to put you on the right track.

    Hope this helped a little.

    Regards

    Karl

  13. "this is a forum for Mastercam users, not machine dealers."

    I disagree Lars,

    While this Forum talks mainly of Mastercam, the forums vast machining experience always raises and answers many questions in all aspects of machining and equipment. Not to Mention the O/T subjects.

    MSP - There are many machine guys offering the high speed features on their machine one that seems common in our area is the Haas Mini Mill specializing in high speed machining. DMG, Kitamuura and Matsuura also offer great products.

    These are just a few but you should look at all for the price performance based on your own requirements.

    Also worth considering is the software options your using ie, Arc Filtering - High Feed - Mastercams High speed toolpaths options - Also its worth looking at Cimco HSM.

    Regards

    Karl

  14. James, You were right Jimmy Glover's Paraplus was something of some promise, unfortunately the product was frozen because of certain aspects required CNC to release more feature control. I also believe it was his young nephew or something who wrote during his summer vacation from school, What a shame it didn't go further.

    I like the way you could modify your dimensions with a Parametric calls on the Fly.

    Cheers

    Karl
