So with X8 I can only communicate to the machine with Cimco editor? If so why?

Installed X8, working good except no communications, all that comes up is cimco dnc and its not even working. Using Legacy just fine in X7. What am I missing?

How about voice commands so I can just tell Mastercam what to do. I am not kidding I would like to be able to say something like " create line tangent " or " Toolpath surface finish constant scallop" and then pick entities like normal. Or when I fill in the parameters page I could say " use half inch ball mill , feedrate of 50, leave .010., step over .025, ". Or say " backplot toolpath number one " or say " post toolpath number one and send ". Just something to think about.

Ugh more icons??? No thanks we got enough separate, terrible icons with x6 and the splitting of every 3d hst toolpath. Really don't want more freaking icons

I can either click a new separate icon and keep moving forward or stop, find the undo icon, figure out how far back I have to go because I was extending lines instead of trimming them. Its just one more chance to make a mistake because I extended a line or arc instead of trimming it and did not catch it.

How about separating the trim/extend function. I have to constantly toggle between trim mode and extend mode when creating and modifying geometry. Just give me two buttons that do each function.

I am currently running X6 and have no issues opening V9 files. If you just want geometry, convert it to IGS in V9 and then open it as an IGS in X6.

Oops....... just checked that 64 bit system..... not 64 bit, my mistake. I guess I have not run 9 on a 64 bit machine. Still able run 9 and x5 on a basic 32 bit laptop with "Mobile Intel" onboard graphics with Mastercam default settings.

USB.... But that should have nothing to do with how Mastercam runs once it is loaded and running.

I have a 64 bit windows 7 system and run ver 9 just fine, no special settings, can run x5 and 9 at the same time no problem. I also did the same when I had vista. I also run both on a 5 year old laptop with onboard video running windows 7, no special settings. I have been using Mastercam since 1991 when I had a screaming 386 20 with a math coprocessor and a 20meg hard drive and cost $3000.

You can run ver 9 on any new off the shelf system and it will run just fine, no special video card or settings.

Have not used a paper print in this shop in more than ten years. From customer's solid model to finished mold no problem, just point and click and cut, its magic.

The display issues seem to be resolved, running x4 mu3 in windows 7 without any compatibility mode, desktop composition on, works much better.

Windows 7 64 bit X4 mill level 3 solids. But believe it or not I am also still using clearcut ver 4 to program an old agie wire machine.

Trying open a X_T file. I keep getting an getmod error window that opens and says "pk error code:922".

Never had this problem before opening parasolids files. Is there a converter update I need?

We post and send different programs all day to the same machine (fadal vmc 3015) so its nice to

just post and send with one click like in version

9. I am using mastercam communications with the "send to machine" box checked and it will post but not send the file. I have a communcations button on my tool bar and that is the only way I can send to the machine but I have to post seperatly and then set the parameters every time I start mc because that

window always opens to a default setting.

When is CNC Software going to address the communication problem in version X?

There have been three updates since it was released and the problem still

exists. The problem is that you cannot post and send from the operations menu to the machine like in version 9. Yes I realize there are workarounds, but this problem needs to be fixed.
