  1. I know there are several of you that would rather order something other than Dell. However those that don't mind getting a 3 year Pro-Support Warranty along with a well tested solid computer that is proven to run Mastercam very well along with other CAD/CAM and general software needed.

If you can build your own system then you don't need to bother. Many Mastercam users don't build their own systems and don't want the headaches that may arise for supporting problems

Check out www.mysolidbox.com/mastercam SolidBox will speak with you and personally go what your needs and usage of Mastercam are to pick the best system to match your budget.

  2. Just wanted to let you guys know SolidBox is now offering a pc OVER HAUL service. Alot of you guys may have good hardware, but over time it has become slow and cluttered. It is an affordable option. Ship your system in to them they will wipe it clean and install everything fresh. They will also consult with you on upgrades that may help performance. Examples being more RAM, Solid State Drive, Video Card upgrade. Call or email them to discuss options. 1-877-697-9269 [email protected]

  3. Jeff, we dont have an option for the i7.. I was told this morning that by budget was to keep it under $5k.

Gcode, That box you sent me, do you know what the Benchmark times are at on that one? I can get that same box as one of my options.

So I am guess processor speed is the most important?

    Thanks

    Hi Simoneau,

Give me a call and we can go thru some options. We can customize a system if needed. 512-906-6398

  4. SolidBox Team Mastercam is a Certified Partner with CNC Software. This site is good for a guide line on hardware if you are looking to build or buy somewhere else, or of course you can order a system with 3 year warranty direct from them.

Below is a little about SolidBox.

    WHAT IS SOLIDBOX -TEAM MASTERCAM?

SolidBox - Team Mastercam is a turnkey hardware integrator for Mastercam end users. We sell servers, desktops, and laptops that are configured specifically for Mastercam. Our systems arrive with Mastercam software pre-installed.

WHO IS SOLIDBOX - TEAM MASTERCAM?

With the great success of SolidBox for SolidWorks Chris has acquired a team dedicated to provide the best computers for the CAM industry. Mike DeButts is an active Applications Engineer for one of the top Mastercam resellers in the world. Mike has had experience with all of the headaches dealing with computers crashing, slow performance, and computer aggravations.

One of the most asked questions from Mastercam users is; what kind of computer do I need to run Mastercam? Mastercam’s website offers the minimum requirements. But let’s be honest, the customer needs something that will run stable and strong without falling short of the different levels of usage. Team Mastercam has benchmarked computers catered for all levels of Mastercam users.

    VISIT THEIR WEBSITE www.mysolidbox.com/mastercam

This is not SPAM I truly hate to see people use SLOW out dated computers. This is simply another resource on the forum...

  5. sr_7626,

Thanks for sharing your experience with Dell. SolidBox customers don't get the typical run around. Plus they also use Dell's Pro Support which is not the same as their standard warranty. Not everyone has the computer skills that some of us do to problem solve nore do they have the time.

  6. MotorCityMinion,

I think we all know you are the "NewEgg KING"!

As gcode stated not all users have the skills to build their own system or want to spend the time to figure out what to buy. I know there are several in the forum that are plenty capable of building their own systems much cheaper. On the other hand there are some that are greatful for a company providing systems that run Mastercam very well. Do you have a copy or link to that NewEgg warranty? Will they come onsite when it fails and replace it? Dell's Pro Support will!

No "shameless promotions" here. Just passing on what alot of people don't know about. Multi-Threading works well for those that know how to use it...

  7. I saw mention of Mastercam not being able to utilize multiple core processors. Well in fact it does with X4. Check out this video http://www.mastercammill.com/videos/multi-...ing_render.html

This is a huge time saver for those using High Speed Surface and Multi-Axis Toolpaths...

You will find many Multi-Core processors [Quad Core to Six Core] in the SolidBox computer systems found here www.mysolidbox.com/mastercam

  8. For those interested-SolidBox has updated product for the third quarter. Please visit the site www.mysolidbox.com/mastercam to see the new system configurations. Benchmark times will be added as the new systems filter in.

Also SolidBox has teamed up with San Diego CAD/CAM. So those of you in the San Diego area get with Trevor or contact SolidBox direct [email protected]

Any Mastercam or SolidWorks resellers interested in teaming with SolidBox please email [email protected]

  9. HIGH SPEED DESKTOP LEVEL3 1min 17.06 sec

    COBALT DESKTOP LEVEL1 1min 21.463 sec

    COBALT MOBILE LEVEL1 1min 38.5 sec

    CARBIDE DESKTOP LEVEL1 1min 16.737sec

    CARBIDE MOBILE LEVEL1 1min 12.01sec

Keep in mind the more expensive systems handle video much faster. This means "FASTER VERIFY"! They also show more speed dealing with larger files with Surface Toolpaths and or Multi-Ax Toolpaths.

If you have questions about a particular system let me know. Direct 512-906-6398 or [email protected]

    Thanks

  10. Rob,

I apologize for dropping the ball on the benchmark thing. SolidBox is a new company. Deciding to not flood the shelf’s with systems that may or may not sell for that quarter was not going to be a good move, so it only made sense to benchmark final numbers as systems were sold. Based on the hardware we were able to test with Dell all current systems will run the benchmark within 2 minutes. Now with the 3rd quarter coming on we hope to be able to learning better ways to read Dell’s roadmaps of hardware. This will help reduce lead times on the SolidBox systems. We have also decided to pre-order 1 of the Level 1 systems for each series for final testing. These systems will be sold quickly after testing at a discounted price!

I will provide a list of all Benchmarked SolidBox Systems that we currently have tonight…

    Thanks,

    Mike

  12. Mastercam Guru-

As it does not state anything about deleting the regen files in the Benchmark Post we did not think to do this. I will retest again later deleting them. I'm really not to sure it will cause much change in time. Please keep in mine this is a totally clean computer with no extra junk - just Win7,Abobe, and Mastercam X4.

  13. The Benchmark time is results from the emastercam benchmark file test.

The verify time is ran on the same file after the test has ran with Quality and Speed set in the center.

The file conversion tests were from the same file also. By saving out versions of each shown file types. The time Matercam took to open each file is displayed.

I'm including results for the Cobalt Laptop and a custom T1500 system we configured for a customer. As we get more results I will post them.

    InitialBenchmarkResultsTM.jpg

  14. Guys I'm very sorry about the delays on getting the benchmarks ran and published. Look for the Top Offering of laptop "Carbide Series" Benchmark to release sometime next week. SolidBox has applied to be a Mastercam Partner to obtain their own HASP to perform benchmarking and test. Unfortunatlly I'm very busy and not able to coordinate my schedule with theirs. Please hang in there SolidBox understands how important these benchmark results are to the Mastercam user.

  15. Looks like next week the benchmarking will done.

The second quarter SolidBox plans to add more selections for each Series.

The M6500 and possibly the Covert will be added 2nd Quarter.

If anyone else has suggestions on different configurations let me know.

Thanks for everyones inputs on this post...
