  1. We've had nothing but trouble with our Hurco....But we have the VMX42SR. I think it has been down as much, if not more, than it has been up.

    We had 3 Hurco's a VMX30,VM1 and a VMXS24 They ROCKED ON MC G code..

Not to mention anyone could walk up and program one off a DXF file.

    "Bullet Proof" stuff.

  2. I usually have the tool dia. as my gap and it stay's down.

You are right though if you put to much gap it will cut through the part!

It takes a coupls of tries to get a satisfactory result sometimes.

I would start getting used to using the HSM toolpath's

Or at least throw them at the same Geo to see how they handle them for kick's.

  3. Hi Guy's hope you don't mind if I chime in too

With one Month under my Belt of 4 axis Hortz...

I have been using Top / Front and A WCS off my stock modeled exactly how and where it will sit in the vice or Fixture.

    From the Pallet C/L orgin

But My Last job was a casting so I really didn't know where it was so

I programmed the whole thing from the C/L of the Pallet until it was Faced /Doweled

To go unto pallet # 2.

Sometimes (Being a casting) the Spot drill went .200 in sometimes it just nicked the part?

It all worked out but Being a Moldmaker / CNC guy I feel like I cheated and fudged the whole job to get it to work.

Quite a bit of Hand editing at the control.

The Code and offsets are saved and with the fixturing were turnkey.

    Thanks Nathan & Guys

    Tony

  4. Hi Guy's

How does's the PROG / Restart work ?

I can start at a tool callout fine, but if I have 3 long sections of surfacing path's

And just want to start on "That line of code"

After I pulled the tool out of the magazine through MDI,

Put it back in , typed in the new Z offset.

Hit cycle start and it takes off with out pulling the tool out of the Magazine?

    I must be missing something?

(The Mighty Hurco's pull all the code's prior)

    Last but not least..

Sometime's I want the pallet to rotate CCW because of clearence issue's

"M15 B270" is supposed to do this but it Doesn't work (So far)?

We tried it on it's own line.

With a G90 in front of it.

    A *.* in front of it....j/k

Thanks for even reading this thread!

  5. S.F. parallel, flowline (Quick) or HS Raster across the top maybe make a dummy by copying the orig. to

Another level then un trimming it.

SF contour or HS waterline path(S) on the OD and then on the ID.

Use Add Cut's too get the small details.

Chris I had a "Cowboy hat Shape" and the base of the hat was "Ungelated"(sp)?

Ended up the best result's came from Radial using the Boss of the hat as a check surface.

So once every 20 years...You need Radial! ;)

  6. Hi guy's

Our Haas is erroring out when I use

    Helix Bore with wear.

It doesnt do it all the time and sometimes only on half the

    Holes in the program?

But the underlying issue is the comp being turned off to late

And to late and only at the last location.

We are using the generic haas 4 axis post.

    wear.jpg

    Are my setting's off somewhere?

I am at a point of only using Helix / Computer for the roughing and Circle mill / wear from center for bore sizing.

    Thanks

    Tony

  7. I have seen this,

I had too make a Copy of a tool

Then edit the tool to the parameters you want for your new drill etc. then save the library.

    Now it's in there.

Or Some libraries the new tool creation will stick like my "A-2" library

Any other I get your results so I created them in A-2 and then Copy and pasted them into the

    library I wanted them in.

Copy and pasted because the Arrows wouldn't work, they wouldn't move the tool's

From one window to the other.

  8. Hi Guy's

Is there a way to output a variable feed rate to tackle Harmonic vibration from setting in.

The Long skinny stuff start's singing in the lathe and a touch of the feed override here and there saves the day.

    The Lathes are Fanuc 18's

    Thanks Guys

  9. Hi Guy's

In X4 and now X5, when I rotate planes for a true rep. of my model as it is to be machined and try to rotate it Dynamically it jump's to another view.

Basically I rotate my planes, and then my WCS , G view,T/C plane are all saved and good.

Then when I select Dynamic rotate and then pick a point on the model as I let go of the "pick" or mouse button it snaps to a top view pre rotated planes (In this case)!?!

Getting a true G view Dynamically is Tough!

Is there a way around this?

(Please Do Not Tell Me To Turn Off My Hardware Acceleration)!!!! ;)

    Thanks

    Tony

  10. Hi Mike

I had to go through the hole segment thing in X5.

None of my X4's came in ?

Some tools were "custom" and they wouldn't show up through the Update folder deal either (The file got bigger in size though) ?

Luckily there were only 5 tools and 10 holders that I had to start from scratch with.

    I'm all ears here also...

  11. The trimming was picky like that in X2 and I would also just re draw the two lines etc. that wouldn't meet even though if you measured them

They were right where the new lines you drew that would trim.

For arcs on the fly I use create arc single point dynamic.

Dxf's come in great but iges arc's turn to a spline filled trimfest.

The trimming in X4/X5 doesn't have your issue's.

  12. Hi Guy's

I have a row of fadals here, let's see...

    1) Is there an X,Y location from Home (Where the arrows line up from a return home for power off) So that I can write it down and then go back to it in the future like X 22.1262 Y -18.3257

Jog to it then zero it out, 60" table and I toggle between set up's but I have been re picking up each one as I need it.

Or when I pick up my second origin I can zero out my X and Y in a G 55 somewhere ?

    2) Is there a way to see my tool's Z like if I am .010 over my work piece the readout says .010 Not -22.1156 ?

    3) DNC / "Running out of memory" I can easily run out of memory with the mighty CNCHS88 controller's buffer or loaded program.

Can I DNC from the H.D. or whatever the "Library" is,also can that memory be upgraded ?

    4) Dog leg moves, Can I turn that off ? the shortest move first then the longest to the next postion move?

    Thanks !

    Tony
