  1. I have config files saved with personalisation preferences - every now and again MCX crashes and seems to lose some settings - if I recall an old config file - it will put toolbars in correct position - but all settings I have on mouse right click menu ( a lot ) are lost on all config files . Should the config file be saving right click menu? - if not - is there a way to do this ?

Also - I am upgrading to x8 or x9 shortly from x7 - do I have to start again with setting toolbars as I like them - or is there a way to import an older version config file into newer software - so toolbars are approx how I like them (or does old into new - just not mix ) - thanks

  2. Tried all - text already at smallest - messed about with other settings - but doesn't alter enough - if I change screen resolution to a 'squarer' type - I can get at it - them revert back - not great - but only had 1 window so far I can't get to tick at base - so manageable at moment

  3. I am in mc definition manager trying to edit VMC a axis - trouble is window containing properties is too big to show apply tick at bottom - I can drag window but can't see how to change its size - so I can't apply changes - screen display is as small as it goes - is this a windows setting or mastercam setting I need to change - - running x7- anyone's any ideas??

  4. Not really ran a proper machine simulation yet - but something I want to start doing - there is no accurate representation of the type of 5axis machines we use in Mastercam - do manufacturers provide these models ? - can anyone suggest any good learning tutorials to assist with setting up machine simulations - thanks

  5. I have seen a few posts on this subject - but no answers yet - I set stock correctly in machine group properties - stock setup - this is confirmed by stock display - so far so good - then goto verify - and stock isn't where it should be - go to verify settings and click stock setup - this should take values I put in at machine group stage and transfer them to verify - it doesn't??

After research I can see what it does - it uses the plane defined in machine group stock ok - but uses the offset ( view manager ) and adds it on- causing stock to be out in verify - does the same if I position cylinder manually in verify options - so unusable with cylinder -

To clarify - if you used Top as set up with no xyz offsets in view manager - this problem does not occur - if however you moved your wcs along 200mm in x and cylinder was in x axis - your stock would be 200mm out in verify - any solutions yet???? - thanks

  6. Upgraded from x4 to x7 - whilst aspects of the 'stand alone' verify are improved - we have always done screenshots off verify for our layouts. As far as I can tell there is no function in mastercam for this now - I can work around that with print screen and paint - but the ruled lines and xyz lines seem immovable from verify - is there a way to get a nice clear screen verify - with just the part on - I.e. Get all the lines off the screen - I have been through settings - but nothing there??

  7. I am interested in buying this dvd ( multi axis intro) as I believe it fits my requirements, can anybody tell me:-

1- have they used it - any good??

2- how many hours of video tutorial is on disc??

3- what is the home edition of Mastercam ( i.e. Is it full version you can't save on - what restrictions does it have??)

4/ I live in England - can I get the Dvd there ok ( is there a shipping cost?)

5/ I am also interested in a tutorial on Udemy site ( Mastercam multi axis) has anyone used both and can compare??

Grateful for any advice/ comments - thanks

  8. There are many pages on this topic- so the answer may already be there-NO ONE SEEMED TO ANSWER QUESTION SO THOUGHT I,D TRY A NEW THREAD- my question is:- when i do a tool list with x+ can i edit it to show just certain bits of info- there is too much info shown at present- can i put custom info in for each tool or is all taken from tool def ?- thanks

  9. Yes open setting >> config >> CAD setting and uncheck

update C and T plane when changing Gview & Reset Cplane to top in ISO Gview

thanks- that has helped- but views are still taken from wcs- when i am working in a plane i want top, right, back etc to view in the plane i am working in- this is why i change wcs also- i want to toggle views in construction & tool planes by using 'top' 'right' buttons etc- what you suggested has helped as i no longer lose the plane and have to reset- but can i change settings so toggle buttons aren't taken off wcs??- thanks

  10. I am running x4 on a 5 axis mc - when i do toolpaths where wcs -tool&construction are all the same planes- no problem.

If i do a toolpath at'back'(e.g.) i will change tool & construction plane to 'back' and leave wcs as it was- 'top', at this point i can rotate view with mouse and T&C planes stay the same-however- i like to view 'TOP' and then 'FIT'(I have these set on right click) to return everything to how i started viewing, the moment i view 'TOP' the T&C planes return to same as WCS- to get round this i have always changed WCS also- this allows me to view as i want- i then just change WCS back before regen & post. For various reasons i now want to change the way i have been doing this (for years).

My question is- when you have T&C set different to WCS is there a way i can use my 'top' 'isometric' 'right' views etc

without losing the T&C planes (i.e. returning to WCS). What i would like is for the view toggle buttons to be set off T&C planes rather than WCS- i have looked through settings but couldn't find anything- has anyone got any ideas???

  11. 5 axis machine- so as an example- i may have 5 toolpaths where my wcs is 'TOP' and my tool and construction planes are also 'TOP'. Then i may have 5 toolpaths where my WCS is 'TOP' and my T&C planes are 'BACK'- if i go to do another toolpath in 'BACK' - i change wcs and T&C planes to 'BACK'-do the toolpath- then change WCS back to 'TOP' before regen.- this is a personal preference - i find it easier to manipulate viewing when WCS is changed also- done it this way for years- no problems- it doesn't make all other toolpaths 'dirty'- apart from on occasion when i hit this problem - then everytime i change plane to do a new toolpath- all other toolpaths become 'dirty' and need regen- but its intermittent- i can't understand why it does this- when i am doing things the same way- the majority of times there is no problem- its only on occasion- i think i maybe won't get an answer on this- i thought it may have been common fault - but maybe not- thanks

  12. i usually change all planes - i.e. construction and wcs i find easier to view this way- once i have done toolpath i change wcs only back to original- this, on most occasions does not make ops 'dirty'- but on occasion it does- this is the essence of my question- it seems like its not that common- as i,ve yet to have a suggestion- i have been using mcx for years and most times its fine- trying to understand why sometimes it does this and sometimes it doesn,t is frustrating- all i know is if it starts doing it- it then does everytime- something in settings maybe???

  13. Should only make the ops dirty if you changing the planes in those paths.

Unless your moving those planes and not just changing to another.

Where are you changing the at ??

i am just changing to do another toolpath on that plane- it then makes any toolpath which has used that plane-'dirty'- i am not changing the plane - and it doesn't always do this- i just dont know the circumstances when it does it or what may cause it- i am aware changing the plane ( i.e. move datum) would cause this- but all i am doing is changing to that plane to constuct geometry or do a toolpath ???

TURN YOUR CAPS LOCK OFF, ITS CONSIDERED YELLING !!!
